Hey guys I'm of to Kalbarri in a weeks time for some Fishing and R&R, I was wondering if anyone knew of any decent 4x4 tracks around the area that are worth the drive?. I would appreciate any information anyone has.

Cheers Matt

Been there a few times, not much that I know of around the town itself but if you head south along the "new" sealed road through Port Gregory there are apparently some spots where you can access some good coastal dunes. Haven't been to them myself so can't be more specific sorry. There are people that run 4wd trips to the dunes out of Kalbarri I believe.

There are dunes to the south and good beach access tracks for fishing. The coastal environment up there was looking rather trash this year due to 4wd's in the dunes. Perhaps it's these tours.

Sorry to rant but this is a fragile coastal area (due to low rain and harsh summer winds), and unless accessing the beach for fishing or camping by sticking stick to the tracks and reducing any damage, and doesn't need people driving all over it just to test thier offroad capabilities.

Matt go down (south ) to lucky bay and wagoe beach....fantastic place one of my favorites
Lucky bay is safe for swimming and fishing ,make a day of it if u come from Kalbarri.
U can get beach access from wagoe chalets but I dont know if this is still allowed unles u are staying there, why not pop in and ask to see what the accom is like and ask if u can drive down to the beach?
U can if u are on the beach drive south to lucky bay, providing the beach is not too soft, it can be very soft in places.
I have run many club trips up there.
U can also eat oysters from the reef so take a screwdriver.
There is also camping to be had along the beach. South of Lucky bay is great for fishing as its not to rough, but wagoe can be rough and there is reef close by, U look for the gaps to fish in where there is sand. Lots of mulloway and snapper and spanish mackrel when running, not to mention big big Tailor...as I say one of my favorite places around
have fun
Brad
