whats everybody thoughts
as we are now on level 4 water restrcitions i used one for the first time on monday when i was leaving rainbow beach, $10 dollars later and only half the sand removed, now that i have had a think about it i should have moved the fender back and forth during the wash to get more sand off
i wonder how clean the water is, i bet it has plenty of salt in it as i don't think the filter would be good enoughto remove the salt
don't think i would use again

No I don't think you should either as I would not like to have to take the Disco in through after your Salty Defender has been in there.
Weeds stay off the beach then you wont have to worry.

I reckon stuff em and their stupid water restrictions. I would and will continue to wash mine as needed untill they allow a tax deduction/rebate for corrosion due to our governments lack of forethought on the water issue. They have had repetetive warnings on this issue for the last 30 years. They should have built a pipeline from the Ord river when it was affordable. Oh and stop cotton and rice farming in Australia and the wanton land clearing in Qld.

Yeah and stay out of the rain, and keep it in the garage so it doesn't get dusty:twisted: and don't put your feet on the mats....
Craig, you don't have the plastic floor runners and plastic shrink on the lounge at home do you?:D
You wouldn't want to see my car after the 2 last outings to Lennox & Double Island!! I think there may be some sand left - on the beach!!
Weeds, I always use the underbody washes (either at Rainbow or Noosa Nth shore). I find em pretty effective, but always do a little bit more with the hand held pressure hose anyway.

There was another thread about this somewhere. I've used it each time (and rocked the car back and forth). I think it's well worth the $10 because it gets most of it off.
However, if you think you're works done you are in for a shock. Each time I've got home I give it one more wash at home, and then another one a couple of weeks later. I strike sand both times :o
I think they are great but the downside is that people that they are all done and don't do anymore. You will have a pile of rust if you do that.
See my thread on the legislation of level 4 restrictions. I reckon there is a loop hole in that you are washing to prevent corrosion. Go and wash the underside of your truck while you still have one :o

Mate, yeah still got the plastic on the car seats.;)
My vehicle gets used for what it is intended and gets scratched etc regularly, but I also like to keep it in reasonable nick and when it needs a clean I should be able to clean it, that simple. Why is it the residential user always have to pay for the sins of the big users.

I've used the north shore under body wash a couple of times and found they don't get to all the places. I'm not certain but I heard they used bore water at times, which could have its own issues for corrosion. You get more sand out with a high pressure washer at home. Alternatively use a car lovers on the Sunshine Coast before getting home. We don't have the water restrictions up here yet!!!
If you want to see what you miss take the fuel tank guage access panel off in the floor of the boot and see how much sand sits in there after a week away.
If you live near the coast you just have to accept some amount of salt and corrosion. Use the car to its limit and then get another one.

 i reckon there is a hole in the rules ,you can only wash your car with a bucket filled from the tap not with a hose ,so get a large bucket and a 12 volt water pump and hose ,put bucket under tap ,start filling the bucket,as it is filling start the pump and start washing, all by the rules if you ask me ,but i didnt say that,i will just have to put up with coming home from fraser and washing it with the dam water and the firehose:cool: :D

level four restrictions came into force today,no washing of vehicles with a hose, only from a bucket filled from a tap,no watering of gardens with hose buckets or watering cans ,filled from the tap not hose, plus more, dont worry me though as on tank water and dam for gardens/car washing, although i wont complain about eight or ten inches of rain:D
