I wouldn't bet on those pine forests still being there by then. They are pretty keen to have it logged in the very near future. I should be going up there for a look on Thursday with the prospect of buying some of it.
All I know at the moment about it's location is it is up at Maryborough somewhere.

Colmslie park is a very good idea.
It's on the Brisbane river, has BBQs, big playground (incl flying fox thing), shelters, heaps of parking, close to Gateway for those coming in from north and Gold Coast. A bit of a beach on the river. Brisbane Range Rover club go there I think. Colmslie fish markets next door for those wanting some seafood.
Its also about 15 min drive from my place.

No its up at the round about and down to Sams seafood. The park at the hocky fields is less crowded has toilets and a play area. It also has a large carpark because of the boat ramp. Both are good parks and easy to get to from the gateway

Don't know that you'd be doing much fishing or yabbying at Bullocky's Rest at the moment.
This used to be one of our regular evening events...Bullocky's Rest, BBQ dinner, a load of yabby traps and hey presto the evening full until about midnight, then home to cook the yabbys. Haven't been able to do it for years now due to low water and weed in the dam. Still make a great spot though for a BBQ and drinking esp if we go on late into the evening.
so I imagine the picnic ground at Torrens Road on Lake Kurwongbah is in the same boat??

Mt Mee !!!!!! Never again ......Had to come home that way the other night........Dag Highway blocked between Woodford and Wamuran....Looking at 45 minute delay so fellow officer states " I know way around, brings you out at Wamuran" so 50 odd cars follow him.
Never been that way in our lives......idiot sets off at 100 + klm /h , trying to keep up so that we didn't end up spending the night in the woods was a nighmare. Going up in the dark was scarey, coming down the other side with burnt out brakes was worse, :o missus was in the car ( she works with me, but I seriously outrank her :D ) Told her about the brakes once I arrived back on flat ground.........haven't been back to work since but will have to arrange a rollcall to see whether we still have all the boys.

Ok how about this one, we have been there many times with the family (big family) Rocks Riverside Park, Seventeen Miles Rocks. If everyone get there early enough you certainly wil have more than enough parking. The BBQ are electric and in pairs, heaps of grassed area and play area for the kids, the water side is turned off due to water restriction tho but our kids still have a good time there and so do we. I hope this can be of some help

The park in Toowong opposite the bus depot?
Used to live right next to it. Can handle a lot more than 20 carloads, but we'd need to get there fairly early with that number. Don't know the BBQ situation but kids play equipment is reasonable. Trees are also good for climbing (well, it was a long time ago I used to live near there...)

best to worst
jc slaughter start
there is a set of toilets. when you pass the toilets on the right u than cross a little bridge and there is a good area on the left, plenty of parking, shade around the edge of a big grass area and at least one BBQ
jc slaughter bottom end
much the same as above, i reckon it would be more popular, parking not as good, has toilets
simpson falls bottom end
great area, toilets, BBQ's. the only problem is the picnic area is on the other side of the gully, would mean carring eskies chairs etc, parking not to bad
hoop pine
has toilet, not much shade, big carpark, big open grass area and a couple of BBQ's
silky oak
good under cover area, BBQ's, smallest carpark but would fit us all, plenty of shade, no toilet
like to park opposite the bus depot, first in best dressed
inc best you decide as i don't want to be held accountable

Got a PM from Numpty reminding me that this get together was on - now I feel a bit slack since I have work to do that I guess I could really put off until Monday.
My only other reason for balking at this is I am not sure what kind of hook-nosed in-breds I am going meet there in real life! It's one thing to tap away to each other on-line, but actually meeting and putting faces to the avatars is a bit daunting. This is kind of like internet dating - but with 50 other people at once, and I guess I am also afraid of what others on the forum might think about my...um, how do I put it delicately...face?
We'll see how we go and hopefully, on Sunday, the veil of anonymity will be lifted, for some.

there is a set of toilets. when you pass the toilets on the right you then cross a little bridge and there is a good area on the left, plenty of parking, shade around the edge of a big grass area and at least one BBQ.
Hope to see you all there!

Well what a relief... not a hook nose in sight. Some interesting facial hair - some on the blokes too... but on the whole a very friendly and relatively normal bunch of people, for Landrover owners that is.
I still think we need to get big magnetic signs with our on-line names to stick onto our vehicles (oh hang on, aluminium doesn't work does it). Then how about those removable stickers to put on the windscreens? Does anybody know an electrocut-sign thingy guy? We could then use them at every meeting/outing/get together so people can be linked to their rides. (Those with split-screen series Landies might need to cut their's in half)
Good work Inc. for suggesting this and making it happen.
