http://www.travelmate.com.au/MapMaker/MapMaker.asp

Sometimes you need to be careful about the route it takes...

(I used it to give a time from Inskip point to Eurong on Fraser Island.... it went via harvey bay and across the island!..)

But generally not bad.

in qld, my experience is whereis.com.au is woeful compared to racq.com.au when it comes to accuracy and nearly always at best routes to take.... so i imagine the other state motoring assoc sites may use the same data source as racq....

i always used whereis but after spending the last month or so doing so pretty extensive planning for two different trips, i have gotta say the racq data is a lot more accurate....

At 20 ltr per 100km, I would be getting my V8 tuned. Open road cruising should see 13-15 litres per hundred.

No BigJon,

At the moment much of my drivng is short distances around town. 20 is typical of a DII 4.0 in those conditions - comes down on the highway... but most DII V8's never get below 16.

Check this one: RACQ (http://www.racq.com.au/cps/rde/xchg/racq_cms_production/hs.xsl/trip_planner_ENA_HTML.htm)

For example, Adelaide to Melbourne: 726.45 kms, 9:08 hours :)

Incisor - that zoomin website is really good.

If you want to find a route between two places, I quite like this one:
http://local.live.com/default.aspx?wip=2&v=2&style=r&rtp=~&&msnurl=home.aspx?%26redirect%3dfalse&msnculture=en-US
even if it is a Microsoft website.

Does distances, etc too. Quite neat

And even less in a V8 P38A with LPG. I can get 300km out of 54 litres so that would be 81 litres - about $45 at the moment. (I fuelled up tonight at 45 cents/litre, diesel was $1.25 :) )

I get regularly 13 on highway with the 4.6 P38A using petrol, 17-18 highway on LPG.

Around town, 18 on petrol, 20-21 LPG

Buggered if I understand why Ron... but from what I've seen the 4.6 is often more economical that the 4.0:eek:
