they are reasonably rare, I can't remember having seen one for sale about the place. Try somewhere like landrovers.com in melbourne.

G'day Folks :)

the 5 bearing motor was only fitted to the very late Series 3 Station Wagon that was Imported into Australia as a complete vehicle and was never CKD they came in from late 80 onwards, they also had adifferent Flywheel, and Flywheel bolts as well as Flywheel housing, I have a 5brg Crank, flywheel, and housing, but no block, "It had a puncture in it, where No 4 Conrod went out, have the piston, bigend, just missing 2inches of conrod:eek: " The motor let go at 120kph, on the Bruce Highway  they would spin so well that all you could hear was "Valve Bounce" if you are looking for more power I would go 200TDI ;)

Uncle Ho, that must have been exciting, I had a pinion shaft in a Toyota BJ40 rear diff lose it's nut and drop back into the diff, jamming the diff solid at about 90klm/h just over the top of the Gladesville bridge in Sydney in a downpour, resulting in a 300 metre series of 360 spins, in peak hour traffic, somehow never hit anyone, was less than a week old.
I was hoping to get a 5 bearing block and crank to replace the snapped (3 bearing) crank and block in a recently required 78 Series III. I'm not after a big increase in power, but I figured if I wanted to spruce it up a bit with extractors, decent exhaust system and clean up the ports, then it might be wise to go for the stronger 5 bearing block and crank, Regards Frank.

I have a five bearing engine that I could be convinced to part with. It is not in good condition, but did run when I got it. It has only done about 40,000km, all offroad (never registered) and is low on compression - I suspect it has been dusted. No idea what the bottom end looks like. It is still in the chassis.
PM me if you are interested.
