Well, for the last few months we (the school) have been building a solar car, only a small RC one. Once built (6 other schools also built one) we race them, around a mock up of Mt Panorama behind the pit complex at the circuit. The race goes for an hour and after that hour the car that completes the most laps wins. Well we caned them, the car didnt suffer a single technical difficulty, and flogged the pants off them, we completed 6-7 more laps than the next best and about 30 something more laps than 3rd place. We won $800 for our troubles. Matt

Well done ACE! Thats an awsome effort.

We've also just competed in the Energy breakthrough competition in Maryborough Victoria with 2 cars, and won 2x Design and construction awards in our classes and came 2nd with our HybridB. Unlike yourselves though, we're still the bridesmaids.

Im not sure it was roughly 40cm across? And 50cm long? You will get an idea of the size when you see the pics as soon as im at school to retrieve them from the files

I cant take all the credit, it was the Metal/Wood work teach and the kids who did the building, i helped, but they did most of the work. We then all worked as a team on race day. Makes a change from last place last year. However finishing last last year helped as we learnt from our mistakes. Matt

Maybe you could sell your secrets to the Holden team next time they are at Mt Panorama ;) ;)
