Have just got back to work after spending 10 days driving Sydney to Adelaide over the Hay plains, and then back to Sydney via the coastal route in my recently acquired LR Discovery IIa: around 3500km overall, including a few detours off the bitumen and the exploration of some state forests and national parks.

So having read all the horror stories on this site, I felt I should share some good news for a change!

Total mechanical issues:
1 windscreen wiper (aftermarket)

Total electrical issues:
Had to change the batteries in the cordless headphones so that my girlfriend could watch a DVD in the back whilst I listened to the cricket in the front

Other (miscellaneous) issues:
I need to fit a decent fridge so that my beers are colder when I arrive places

:D

I arrive back after lots of driving refreshed, unstressed, no back pain or other complaints, and am thoroughly overjoyed with my purchase! Absoutely craps all over the Toyota I owned previously! And for a V8 (and a driver with a heavy right foot!), I averaged 14l/100km - not bad I reckon.........

Love it.....

Sounds like a very possitive trip - and despite being a POHM - I have just bought an Engle fridge for the very same purpose.
