Am I right in saying the LT95 will fit my D2?

No. The Disco2 had the R380 and then the normal LT230 transfer which you can get 30% gears for.
The LT95 is a 4speed manual and transfer all in one box. It was used in the Stage1's, Countys, Rangies. I'm pretty sure it was never used in a Disco, but no doubt it would work with a bit of effort.

I know Mark (aka Gecko), good bloke and I sold him a 2 door Rangie a few years back which heused as a comp truck. Shame, it was a pretty original example like the 2 door I have currently.
Agree with Rovercare though, prices a bit exxy IMO.

I sold my last LT95 for $250 just to get rid of it. As you know there a bloody lump of a gearbox
Grimace, I would haggle a bit for those Maxi's if you planned on getting them. IMO second hand ones shouldn't be worth more than $1300-1500 an end. Plus fitting them to a later model you'll need to re-mount the actuautor blocks to the housing ($100 for new ones, or re-graft the old ones if possible).

Doesn't work, I've tried it.
The later Rangie have wider front suspension arms as well as the link to the chassis is bigger as well (86 onwards) Also there's an extra bolt on the swivel probably because the old ones are both undersizer and come loose all the bloody time. I always had issues with that on my 83, even loctite didn't help
You could make it work, but I prefer the later 'flat' style housing anyway and worth the extra effort to retro-fit them.
Plus IMO those awful drain plugs on the old 2 doors are shocking and are near impossible to undo after a few rock scrapes

Yes I forgot, he has built up a 4 door Rangie ute and had the maxi's in that (i think it was a 88 model) so disregard the last couple of comments.
Personally, I think $2500-2800 is a fair price for the pair complete.
