Not true, unfortunately since the urn belongs to the MCC. But as for the associated pride, that is definitely not going back to the UK with them.

Ron

No, 'cause it has meaning!! ;)
Style not substance is what the yanks like, which is why they win something and rename it (America's Cup) and they have a "World Series" involving only one country:D

No they would put it up as a 'world series' but forget to invite the rest of the world to compete !!!!

well that was mainly true until recently but American World Cup Basball series now includes Canada and the Blue Jays (l think) from Toronto has won the series in the past.

Amercian Football well thats just American teams playing from different leagues they call them conferences.

Whats wrong with having a world series where only teams from one country play

The Brits called them Empire Games for many years and now call them the Commonwealth Games - we like playing in them as we get the most Gold Medals

As for the Ashes being held in UK not unusual the Melbourne Cup doesnt go to the owners of the winning horse

As for beating the poms we normally do in nearly every sport except Soccer

As for whingers l rank the Irish as the major modern day wimps for pulling out of the AFL - GAellic Football ping pong match as we were allegedly too rough in tackling their amateur players

The Brits called them Empire Games for many years and now call them the Commonwealth Games - we like playing in them as we get the most Gold Medals - Yeah great competition that - exclude the best teams and have a "poor mans olympics" The International Athletic bodies don't even recognise them or the records....

As for the Ashes being held in UK not unusual the Melbourne Cup doesnt go to the owners of the winning horse - Ah, you better check your facts

As for beating the poms we normally do in nearly every sport except Soccer - The last time Aus played the poms they flogged em (3-1) Feb 12 2003 P.S. Socceroos couldn't beat the Irish though 2-1 Aug 19 2003

As for whingers l rank the Irish as the major modern day wimps for pulling out of the AFL - GAellic Football ping pong match as we were allegedly too rough in tackling their amateur players - Neither GAA or AFL allow fighting, punching or the type of "tackling" that occured. In GAA you'd be sent off, in AFL you'd get a huge suspension. Mixed rules don't allow it, so why when they get to represent their country, do they carry on like that, and think it's OK? Demetriou said it wan't acceptable, so why are they whingers?
Want to talk whingers? Wallabies, oh boo hoo we can't play in the rain. Tossers. Despite the fact they were running with a gale at their back, they came off 15-3 down in the first half.

If your post was meant as a bait - good job :2up: :D
If not :rocket: :2up: :D

The Americans used to play internationally until the British limited international cricket to only countries in the Empire.

No you wont, Ladas!

Aussie, aussie, aussie!

BTW: The genuine article has been here, I had it here for a series of tv commercials, maybe 20 years ago, it was always accompanied by two armed and beefy pommy coppers. A nice little junket for them, eh?

no they do that cause they're wussies....

I remember seeing on an american show when there was an aussie AFL(might have been rugby i dont follow the non round ball shaped sports) team in the states and they were invited to play grid iron, when they turned up on the field in stubbies and singlets then offered the protective gear they turned it down saying something along the lines of "Nahh she'll be right mate"

the yanks turned around and walked off saying "are you **@##$g nuts" and there was many a pale face amongst the yanks later that night when they got to see the footage of the game the aussies played.

Maybe England should source their players from the Barmy Army, at least they have an interest in the game and they may actually have an idea as to 'what to do' on a cricket pitch.

5-0 eh?

Crikey!

Time for a Pimms, poms.
