Help, please,
Im new at this maintanance thing. I have a defender td5 wagon and when i'm stationary my front driveshaft twists back and forth. The rear one dosn't, so i figure something is wrong. There is a vibration through the drivetrain when i back off the right pedal at high revs in each gear.
Any ideas?
Anyone?
It does have stronger springs in the front for the weight of the bullbar and winch but no lift. I do have cooper stt's on the rig.
Cheers Gecko

Front shaft rotating a little when park brake is on is normal. The centre diff is not locked I presume, which means the shaft would actually rotate of its own accord if buth front wheels were off the ground...

Not sure about the vibration though...

G'day Gecko,

I also have an 05 Defender with similar fit of gear. I have OME LTR's and springs fitted both frot and rear. The mt vehicle also has a distinctive vibration at around 70kmh. I though this was due to the lift but I am now not so sure. I recently drove a 05 130 that was stock standard and this also had vibration at about the same speed, although is was not as distinctive as mine. Don't have an answer other than this may be common. Not usre either about long term effects.

On a good note, you have a nice rig. the sill guards look good.

I went and locked the centre diff and it rotated still. SO i will put it down to a defender thing????? Its still with warranty so i'll get it checked it out.

Jake when you got your springs and LTR's fitted did you measure your height of the vehicle? And did you measure your length of the shocks. I nearlly went LTRs but the price scared me, (i wanted the roller drawers instead).
The N44 (nitrochargers, the ones i have) are the same height as the OE shocks, and the N44's are designned for a 50mm lifts. Go figure?

Height opened and closed is the same!
I'm now not impressed with OME/ARB.

Gecko,

I think I have the measurments somewhere. I know ARB Southern has my measurements. I will have a look for you and send them off. I think the lift is just under 50mm.

We found the LTR's briliant. Did a trip to the Kimberley this year and the shocks worked very well.

Can you send a pickture of your drawer system both outside shot and inside if possible.

Happy New year.

Roller drawers ,
They were $940 +$100 for freight to townsville and the bloke threw in the side panel boards and carpet for free (the bits that go over the wheel boxes. I had to cut the shape [jigsaw] my self.
Go to www.consoles.com (http://www.consoles.com) . They are made of marine ply and carpet and some steel. Lockable. Rate them so far
