G'day all,

The ignition switch ion Molly (my 1959 Series II) is a little hard to get the key to work properly. As part of my on-going restoration I thought I'd treat her to a new barrel / switch assembly.

Looking on page 61 (electrical section - switches) of the Four Wheel Drives (http://www.fwd.com.au)catalogue I see several types available - for solenoid and non-solenoid types.

Anyone know which one Molly is likely to have? She's a 1959 Series II 4-cylinder.

Cheers.

G'day All, The one you will be looking for will E/2&3, you will probably find that there is nothing wrong with the barrel, the problem generally is the base of the ign/switch, they can be repaired if you like fiddling, or alternatively try your local wreckers the switches are the same in all BMC types anyway cheers mate Dennis:wasntme:
PS Yes it was.

Thanks Dinty :)

EDIT: A bit more of a description of the problem is that A) the key doesn't seem to fit properly and it takes loads of twiddling to get it to finally turn and give me the "go-light" so I can push her button and start her. Once I've got the "go-light" she starts fine... which is why I figured it was probably the barrel & key that was buggered.

If it is original and there is a starter button on the firewall, you need the non-solenoid type.
