In passing I have seen a clubhouse at Salisbury for a LROC. I gather there must be members on this forum. I've never bothered to joined a 4wd club before, just seem to be full of loudmouths or nannas but... just curious, what is the club like, honestly? And what's the demographic? Get out much?

Mate,
The clubhouse is the FWDQ (Four Wheel Drive Council of QLD).
The LROC Bris do meet there. They sound like a good bunch who do regular trips.
Adm333, VladTepes and Aquarangie on here (and a few others) are members who I'm sure will help you with your queries.

Hey I like it.
Good bunch of (mainly) blokes, good mix of vehicles though there are less and less Series vehicles showing..
Trips are well rated from easy to difficult, sometimes accidentally on the same trip (eh Trav? :p)... we usually get out oh.. about once a month at least I reckon.

Agree with Grizzly here. Good club, people are friendly and helpful. They ley me in after all :lol2: :lol2: :lol2:
Most trips are easy to moderate with the occasional hard/extreme trip. The general vehicle specs are more stock than full-on modified but there not afraid to use them so no winery trips   Still a few modded Landies (like mine) around the place so there's a good variety.
Age-wise it's a mixed bag from late 20's people (like me) to older peiople in there 50's and 60's. There's virually no politics, plus no bickering and whinging unlike other clubs I've been a member of in the past B)

I'm a member but I haven't been on a run yet due to a new baby. They all seem nice.. I hope to get out with them this year. :)

thanks FenianEeel, We pulled into the street one night to answer the phone or something and all that caught my eye in the dark was the rover signage.
Grizzly & Aqua, Kewl, that's me then, might have to pop along for a meet'n'greet. I like to actually use my 4WD for more than country tours, but at the same time I shudder at the stuff I got away with when younger, less thru skill more thru providence & good luck, so no super hard core stuff for me anymore... Unless/untill I build a trailer queen someday in a galaxy far far away...
cheers
edit. sorry Captain, didn't see you there, I was typing in the midst of cooking & took about 20min to finish what I started

I knew there was something I had to do
The website now has the meeting dates for 2007 and yes next Monday night is the first for the year.
If you have any questions send me a PM or an email through the web site but as most people have siad, just rock up and join in.
It is quite laid back and we do like to get the "formalities" out of the way swiftly.
Cheers

I was a member for quite a few years until I moved to Germany and then Perth. Great club with a great bunch of guys - in fact I went 4x4ing with a few of them when I was back in brissie for xmas.

i should have also asked, do your wives come along or is it a boys thing. SWMBO is interested in getting involved but doesn't like being the only female in a sea of car talk, yes I know odd isn't it.

Yes, there are quite a few wives and children that come along on our trips.
My 5 year old son comes along on EVERY trip and my wife comes along as often as she can.
We promote a family oriented club and encourage participation by all.
Suitable warnings are given in advance on the grading of the trips but most are quite easy to moderate.

I met your folks quite by co incidence a few months ago when I offered to give your mum a lift home after a cycling mishap down at the Parklands.
It wasn't until we got back to their house and I saw the Landy that we figured out the connection to the club !
Small world.

Oh OK, There are a lot of wives that go along, but yes there is also a sea of car talk.
My wife has never been to a meeting - not her cup of tea - but all are most welcome.
Bring her along - she can make up her own mind :D
