2007 Defender Media Blackout?

Since the initial press release in August last year and the display at the Paris motor show, there seems to have been a lack of any further info on the 2007 Defender. Landrover World magazine had an article scutinising a static vehicle, but so far I haven't heard or read any reviews about actually driving it. Even though we lag behind a bit on receiving the big three Landrover magazines, I haven't yet seen a "first drive" article in any of them (that includes the current January issues).

I would have thought for a vehicle due to go on sale this quarter there might have been some more press by now. The new Defender has been on the Landrover French website since last September, and it is now up on the UK site but under a "coming soon" tab. This in itself is puzzling since orders for new Defenders since December will be 07 models.

Additionally, I have been emailing the "Home of The Legend" guys for the past three weeks trying to book a test drive in March in a Defender. So far they have not responded so I wonder if there is a PR blackout, or are they just being slack. I even had a friend ring them a couple of times and leave messages but so far no call back (to a local UK number).

Does anybody have any news?

Best guess as said a couple of weeks ago here 90% of LR attention at present is the TDV8 in the RR and RRS. I reckon the launch and every thing else to do with the new defender will be pushed back a bit until the TDV8 RR and RRS releases are out of the way.

I was at Southern Landrover a couple of weeks ago.Current Defenders still available,new model in showrooms within the next 2 to 3 months.

Hi Tony
Do you know who you spoke to?
I asked George Little,the guy who sold me my Disco.They had a new 130 crewcab up the back and a new Defender wagon inside,probably customer orders I guess.I went past Barbagallos later in the day and there was a new Defender wagon on Display out the front.

Don't know who I spoke to but as soon as I mentioned Defender he totally lost interest in talking to me. :mad:
