Hi all,
I bought a 3 phase welder from a friend, unfortunately, it has one part missing...and this part seems to be impossible to get:
I am missing the NEUTRAL pin on the 20A 3 phase Clipsal plug. Yes, just the little brass pin that sits in the center and that the neutral wire is attached to. The neutral pin is slightly thinner than the other pins.
Please, does anyone have an old 20a 3 phase plug flying around? Or can anoyone point me in the right direction?
Why don't I buy a new plug, you ask? A new male Clipsal plug is about $150...just what I paid for the welder...;)
Cheers,
Thomas

Yahoo! $150! Ouch!
I had a quick look in the miles of stuff in the shed and, well, sorry, Tomkah, none of that type, plenty of other cable 'n' stuff, tho'....... (anyone building a radio or tv studio/station, call me....)

On a welder you should't need the neutral pin, unless it has some 240V circuitry on it which would be doubtful. Just plug it in and give it a try.
If you definately need the pin PM me I should be able to help you out.
Cheers, Mick.

It is possible that someone removed the centre neutral pin so as to use it on a 4 pin socket.
3 phase plugs and sockets are pretty expensive aren't they.

Are you sure it isn't just 415 volt ( 2 phase ). Have a look inside the welder and see it the neutral wire is conected.

Hi all,
I need the pin because the fan motor is 240V. Also, I wired up 2 10A 240V power points in the front of the welder for lights, angle grinder, electric stubbie cooler etc., I hate having 20000 extension leads hanging around.
The welder itself works fine and being light industrial and with my pityful welding skills and the HUGE copper coils it will probably never overheat...but I just like it to work properly.
Cheers,
Thomas
