Well, had to use those major items of the toll box today.
Wandered up Stockton beach with a mate who had his Canadian dad visiting, did a bit of surfing, boogy boarding and fishing. Heading back, paused to look at which sand dune we would go tobogganing down (on boogy boards), picked a grand looking dune, hit the go pedal, went five foot and the bonnet disappeared in a cloud of steam. Shut down and had a look. Split the top radiator hose for about 5 inches in length, straight across from that intersecting smaller pipe.
Got the duct tape out, wrapped it up, got the venetian cord out and wrapped it up tight, got out more duct tape and wrapped it even tighter (the Tee piece was a pain.
Drove a few more kms done the beech, out lavis lane to the petrol station.
Water flowed every where at the bowser.
Refilled, and came home ok.
Looks Like I should have changed all the hoses, not just the one that looked bad.
So just a reminded that tool boxes always need Duct tape and cord. Did this on my old torana with electrical tape and speaker wire in years gone bye. Glad it was just sitting in the back, and glad my mate had excess drinking water, as it took all I had.
Hopefully as the temp gauge did not move, and I still have water in the egg crate (reservoir tank) then the motor has not over heated (too much)
Other than that great day for kids, parents and grand parents, just not f
or the beedin radiator hose.
