Fella's, Ladies and Cattle dogs.........

As some of you might know i'm turning Grommet into a Truck Cab ute....
Well i was looking at options for the rear tarp/canvas......
I then thought... why not a LWB series canvas???? with hood sticks?

Where and How much will it cost for the Hood Sticks and the Canvas???

I can get the tabs on the tub from a series that is laying around, then i'll pop rivet them on.

Sounds easy????

The easy way
- ring four wheels drives and get your credit card out, big moolah

The hard way
- beg borrow or scrounge a set of hood sticks, find someone with a canvas tilt and have one made up to match or get onto the UK ebay and find one there for roughly the same cost once freight is factored in.

to attach it to a truck cab requires some specialist bits. Have a look at the four wheel drives download series parts pdf to get a better idea.

If you want to make it a LWB ute, I may have a canvas for a workshop type army ser 2/3 going for $150.00.
I thought it had sold and would need to see if the guy still wants it.

I converted my full length top to a 3/4 top when I went to a truck cab. Originally, about fifteen years ago it had cost me $600 from 4x4 motors (now in Mountain Highway I believe). The fittings to go on the back of the cab cost me $150 S/H from Four Wheel Drives about six years ago.

Paddock has them, but i dont know what i need........

i know i need a 3/4 and you can get them for defender, but it has ones for Cab and ones for Body???? what is the difference???

Hood sticks i guess i can use the Series ones.

Clips for the ropes i will buy genuine if i can get them.... might have to get a uk bloke to get them... and ship here

i would like a version like the s3 ones where i can open the back window and just reach for a beer........

mmmmmmm

might have to get a quote for a local canvas maker.

Ohh why do we do things outside the circle???

Ok, these are the people you need to look at / talk to. cheaper than getting anything in australia generally.

http://www.exmoortrim.co.uk/erol.html

Of you are having a hard top over the cab area, this is what you want I believe.

http://www.exmoortrim.co.uk/images/400pixel/110_3quart_cab_fit.jpg

It connects to a rail around the window on the back of the cab so that you can open the window and reach in.

If you look down the left side you will see a link to the 90/110 section, that is whre you need to look in canopies. I'm not sure that the hood sticks are the same, but these guys have everything you need. call / e-mail them ;)

Thats exactly what i want.............

As an update.
Today i scored an Ex army 110 Full canvas, i am going to use it and have it modified to be a 3/4, it will be a starting point for me to work out what i exactly want.

I also scored the hoops and stays, i only got 4 center hoops and i plan to modify 2 of then to be the front and rear hoops.

Good work,
I was going to reply earlier.
But no one mentioned this place. o'tooles in wodonga, back left hand section of the shop, they nearly always have 110 canvas there. When i was there a couple of months ago, they had a new one a used one and some mog tarps. Plus it is a great place to troll around in, for things!

yes big bird
you obviously know the place, even for tools, in some of the bins and racks in the same section you can find landrover bits and pieces, army issue tools , the old stuff.

Forgot to mention, if your ex ambo is original how about some vietnam era body bags. They still had one hung above the counter , citing uses as sleeping bag cover or something like that.
