Air Intake Hose

Discovered a hole in the Defender's intake hose that runs from the water escape valve to the air cleaner - not too bad as yet. Anyway while I was looking for a replacement hose, a salesman suggested getting a 76mm/3" truck radiator hose. It would be less than 1/2 the price of a L/R replacement hose.

Radiator hose is not reinforced, but would that matter?

If you've relpaced an intake hose, what did you use?

Any suggestions/comments gratefully accepted!!!

I believe some people are using silcone replacement hoses.
Not sure of one is available to replace that particular hose though.
Do a search might pull up something.
