Gday,

I am about to tackle the task of painting my Series 2a Land Rover "John Landy".

The first parts to paint are the chassis which I am getting sandblasted, and other bits and peices and the next stage is the firewall, radiator support panel and aloominum :)

For the chassis and other bits and peices I intend to use POR15, and for the firewall and radiator support panel also.

The topcoat on the firewall etc will be in a flat 2 pack of some sort in drab oliveish colour.

Can I use a twin pot 2 pack gun to paint the single pack POR15 paint to the chassis? Or do I need 2 paint guns.

Hi Richard
Never heard of a twin pot spraygun.2 Pac is usually mixed and sprayed asap.
My bro does the odd spray job on cars, but is a cabinet maker and sprays 2Pac clears all the time.
He uses a gravity feed gun,it has a pot on top.His gun is a very expensive "de vibliss" or similar brand, but you can now get "Stan" brand gravity fed guns at very reasonable prices.
The gravity feed gun is actually very good for enamels as it allows for less thinning, also suitable for normal paints.

The POR 15 dealer here in Adelaide sells POR 15 HVLP spray guns, so call the place you bought yours from and see if they do also. They were around $120-130, so prob not professinal quality but obviously what you'd use to spray their stuff.

(HVLP=High Volume Low Pressue by the way...)

I used POR15 on my chassis and pleased with the result. After 2 coats of POR15 I used the POR Chassis black which is matt black.
Be aware that it is very toxic and wear a good quality mask and goggles. Have a look on their web site for application.
