Gday All,
I need to know the length of the RRC rear tailshaft, i have converted my D2 to use a uni to uni rear shaft instead and i have a new rear shaft being made(rebuilding the old one with a new end on it, but i need to know the open and and full compressed lengths of the RRC shaft. Anyone got one laying around they can messure for me??
Thanks,
Mick.

Early D1 shaft is normally used in this conversion i thought, but i think the D1 and RRC rear shaft are the same.
Mine is a D1 shaft, oh and grease it before you install it, cause there is one grease nipple that you can't get too once it's on because of the angle in the uni joint, unless you have a really narrow grease gun end.

I used a rangie rear driveshaft to convert my disco.
I can measure the installed length, and could probably judge the closed length for you.
If you get a long slip joint, you should have no trouble.

Just out of interest, why are you doing this conversion? is the original rubber uni prone to failure on the Disco? I've noticed mine needs replacing at a cost of $110
Best regards

Yes they do. And more likely with a suspension lift.

Yes they are designed to be a weak spot in the drive line to save diffs etc - in my case it didnt work hence the upgrade to a maxidrive and uni to uni tail shaft. Mal from maxidrive recomended i get rid of the rotoflex because it might get a hard time because of the locker and on top of that i have 2.5-3 lift.

Now, if we could only get rid of the DC joint at the front everything would be fine.
