Transmission shunt

hey everyone i have noticed a bit of shunt/clunk when i change up gear and let the clutch out is this normal ?? or is something goin wrong with my fender ?? it drives fine but it jst clunks when i change up

Hi Adrian, I'm thinking you ought to get a flat bladed screwdriver and prise off the caps on the end of your rear axles. Have a look at the splines, and rock the wheel back and forward a little. You may find the cause of the clunk. Also, don't discount wear in the A frame ball joint on top of the rear diff, as they can be noisy with even a little wear. Give me a call tomorrow if you need clarification.
Hot up there? we are ensconced indoors with the blinds down and the cool shower close at hand. Kids want the paddling pool dragged out of the shed next!!!

As Justin says, most likely clunk is the axle splines into the drive flanges or the ball joint on the A-frame. I have also had this with a loose nut on the front of the lower rear suspension link (it was a sharp click, not a clunk), and it can be caused by any of the suspension bushes being badly worn, but you'd most likely have other symptoms in that case.

But another thing worth checking that will cause this effect, is a dragging handbrake, either not coming off properly due to a binding cable, or adjusted up too tight or contaminated with oil. Or simply the handbrake lever not fully off.

I think its got hotter since lunchtime, I'm guessing 35 to 36.
I've just dug the fan out of the store room too!
