Xtreme 110 heating up

Hello everyone , i am new to this forum and would like some help on a little
problem we have. We have noticed the floor centre console and under front
seats heating up, after 100kms it is quite hot to touch. We were told to put some lagging around the exhaust. We got underneath to have a look and noticed that under the floor above the transver case was blistering with heat.
Does anyone know how to stop heat coming up throuh floor.

Its a trait inherited from the original Series1 Landy:D :D :D :D :D :D
2 fixes,do both and you will get a good result.
1 thermo bandage for the exhaust,its a tape you wrap around the pipe,start below the turbo and work back.
2 reflective barrier.A heat/sound deadener you can glue to the inside or outside of your floor.
You get them from truck part wholesalers,tractor part suppliers etc,possible that Clarke Rubber also stock it.

Sorry to hear that Land Rover have still not fixed this issue.

The bright side is that the floor is a great place to keep fish and chips warm on the way home :D, or warm anywhere a tank of fuel will take you :o.

A mate of mine and his wife own a County and borrowed my Discovery 2 to deliver my camper trailer from Brisbane to Wagga. His wife is sick of their County's hot plate floor and now wants a Discovery.

duct cool air from the front of the car using flexible tubing to exhaust cool air over the transfer case and/or over the exhaust. This is how excessive cabin & floor heat was overcome in White Road Boss trucks. White used ducts moulded into the fibreglass bonnets. These used to get so hot from mainly turbocharger heat on in-line engines that I was actually once presented with a rubber thong with hex bolt head impressions melted into the sole from the bolts retaining the engine cover to the cab floor. The engines were designed for left hand drive and had the hot bits handily located to the right keeping everything on that side nice and warm. Another solution is to mount a piece of aluminium sheet above the exhaust pipe and/or transfer case but with an air gap between the plate and the underside of the floor a la tropical roofs.

I do not think it is exhaust problem.

How old you bus? I had floor, gear stick, hand break stick hot when it was new. It disapeared after first ~1000km. So might be it just gear/transfer boxes are fitting-in. Or have you checked oil level? Or CDL engaged for a long time can get transfer case hot too. I did this silly mistake on our trip to CapeY, no warning lights.

Had same issue on both Disco's until I replaced the stock mufflers with sport ones. Less flow restiction equals less heat.

I don't think the Defender exhaust system differs greatly from a Disco.

But they're both louder now.......:mrgreen:
