hi there, new to this site, love the site keep up the good work everyone.

I Have been experiencing a warning beep- it chimes 3 times and sounds like the standard chime throughout the vechicle- its a 2002 td5 auto.
no warning lights come on when its sounding- it mostly happens on take-off and has no real consistency with it, weather it be a slow take or accelerating from a rolling start. Got me stumped. it doesnt happen everyday, but when it kicks in it might beep everytime i from a standstill.
Also situated in melb, nrthen burbs- can any one recomend a cheap mechanic who knows his stuff!

thanks for the Help In Advance Mark

G'day All, Mark you may need to repost this in AULRO Technical, as all the stuff in here is 60's & 70's Series Land Rovers,(ex-military) while some may own the later model Land Rovers (my old 110 County doesn't have any like that in it!!:D ) anyway pleased that you like the site cheers mate Dennis:wasntme:

Dinty's right it should be in the technical chatter forum, more people will see it that way.

However, assuming your's is a Disco, the only thing I know that gives three chimes is the SLS (self leveling suspension)

An it seems like your problem happens when moving away from a stop - does it happen around 30 kph. As this is where the SLS would normally return to standard road height after the rear has been raised manually.

Now I don't have a solution for you - just a suggestion on where to look.

I would check the ride height sensors/arms on the rear suspension, you may also want to check the warning bulb - because I am sure something should iluminate, check the manual ride height adjustment switch.

As Ladas stated it could be the SLS

just a quick question you haven't got Hill Decent Control activated?

Easiest way to find a fault is to take the vehicle to your nearest landrover specialist to get the fault read.

I just popped out to the post office, and so I thought I would test my theory.

I started the car, pumped up to the high ride height, then drove off, at 30 k/h three chimes and the car returns to normal ride height.
