Have possiblly got a secondhand v8 Rover engine lined up. Does anyone know how much they weigh? Loading it on is not a problem but unloading out of my hiace van could be a hassle. Any ideas????

for what it is worth, a short motor ( block crank rods pistons etc )weighs around 80 Kgs

Pretty light actually....

Thanks for that, should be able to strap it onto a small skid then slide it onto my trolley (takes 250kg) to unload. Just hit the "buy now" button so no turning back.

My brother used to have one sitting in his shed (block and heads, no manifolds) and he and his missus used to pick it up (she was a smallish woman too, no butch giant).

I've lifted shorts in/ out of the back of my rangie on my own as well as a 4.4 long - that one was a struggle !

Still have the scar on my finger which broke when one was dropped on my hand.

Wedding ring saved any further damage.

(I transported that one sitting in an old tyre, strapped into the trailer).

Thanks for the replies, shouldnt be too bad then, have loaded and unloaded 120-150 kg skids in the past just by leaning trolley on towbar and sliding in or out.

After reading that last post, might have to look at getting married first just to be safe.

I am sure the scars a marriage would leave are potentially much worse than what a Rover V8 would give you...:p
