it was the falcon: the remote thingy was sitting on the workshop bench with nothing around it, the cars doors were all closed but not locked; as i got about three feet from the drivers door, the car locked itself - bizarre!
i was walking towards it clacking a medium size pair of pliers - did it think i was going to do something painful and decided it wouldn't let me in?
howzat????? pretty weird, eh?

I think you should feel lucky that the car knows its a POS and locks drivers out, now go back to the LR and get into the real beast.

I had this with my 98 wagon last of the EBs but with all the AU running gear, apparently it's a built in feature of Falcons, this is to keep Ford afloat:p
With mine it turned out to be faulty door lock, in fact it was fixed under warrenty the tech guy reckoned the only door to have my model door lock was the back door, all the rest had a lock from a previous model Falcon:eek:
Mine started the way yours did, after a while it won't lock at all, every time you lock the car it will unlock itself.
We had a P O E T S Day car:twisted:

My EB Series 2 used to do that on the weekends when I was just about to get in it, turned out it was the bloody kids using the second remote...hehehe little buggers

My EL Fairmont would unlock, not lock, which Ford said was heat related. There is a safety feature as stated by Redback which would re-lock the car if a door wasn't opened within 60 secs (i think) of unlocking it. No such problem with my AU.

we have had several incidents with ford couriers at work locking themselves with the keys inside, all the grader drivers now leave the windows down as it beats getting home at 9pm.:D

my wife's pug 307 if you unlock the doors using the remote and then don't open any door it will lock itself again after about a minute - spooky first time it happens

A friend and I fitted a remote immobiliser to his 1994ish Camry. We didn 't bother fitting the interior light wire as it was getting late. We thought this would turn the interior light on when the button was pressed. As it turns out it really deactivated the relock timer. So we fitted the wire not long after.
