How does one read this?
Because I am a sheep like all the other baseball cap backwards hip-hop techno rave people my age I would fit a totally ridiculous set of underrated rims which are also totally illegal to my vehicle. I would ruin the ride and handling of the vehicle to have a set of totally impractical rims (pot holes and manhole covers WILL bend them) which make my ride look like I'm some sort of try hard wanna be African American Gangsta.....

I can just visualise the effect of the first rock (or curb, or pothole) you hit - bent wheel and damaged tyre. It is difficult to think of anything less practical on a four wheel drive - or even a road car of any kind.

Hey BigJon, spend a few days on the Gold Coast!
you'll find 30" wheels on everything - 20" is passe and 24" is getting there -
my dad lives on Isle of Capri at GC and has many neighbours with large black 4wd vehicles like F250, Hummer, RR etc (none of which go 'offroad' by their appearance) but are shod with enormous wheels - gotta keep up with eh Joneses eh?
The interesting thing about these rides is that like all vehicles they'll depreciate dramatically and having done about 1000 ks a year will be good buys in maybe ten years or so - then - off with the bling wheels - and off we go....
believe it or not (and nearby to dad) - there is an F250 dualcab lwb ute (with the wheels) - which is a shopping buggy for a nearby school kid delivering mum - amazing...... (the truth is always stranger than fiction)

how dare he devalue a LR hey. The cars aren't worth a pinch of s@#t, tried to sell it for 6 months and not even a call, so thought f@#k it i'm gonna pimp it, he's got the money, so why not, its just a road car (jeep for offroad), he's not a chunky gold wearin homie, doesn't even have a watch. Actually in the auto trans game, semi retired, has a farm and cows and into crap like that.
So if you were 35, worked your ass off, had plenty of cash to do it, wouldn't you just to have a bit of fun. No! guess you wouldn't because its sacralidge to devalue a car that with its reputation did a good enough job on its own.

I would love to pull a tyre off to show him the not for hwy service stamp on the inside of them.
Good luck with insurance oh yeah he wouldn't have any money left so he won't got any while he will be the bloke tailgating you up the road and weaving in and out of traffic.
Mass generalisation, I think so but in my experience unless he sells drugs for a living he wouldn't be able to afford them and if he's rich and not into drugs he would have better taste and would just buy a RR sport, or he's just an idiot with a credit card.
As far as each to their own, if it doesn't get driven on the road then yes fine but if it does then he's breaking the law as rims like that on a 2 1/2 tonne car are illegal and dangerous.

Not sure, you are probably right. Couldn't see them as being practical but I have always liked the idea of having a 90 that looks a little like that!
I have to admit I am a bit addicted to the the tomb raider idea....for some reason the other half won't let me make any cosmetic changes to the 130. :)

this really seems to upset you doesn't it? did someone once steal yours? more than likely in cranny;)
I think there is so many better ways to spend money than puting wheels that are not designed for use on Australian roads and can be dangerous as most of these stupid looking rims are not load rated so are stamped NOT FOR HWAY SERVICE for a reason.
No worries if it is a show car that is rolled off the trailer with a 10000watt sound system in it and is just there to be looked at but they shouldn't be on the road.
My Disco doesnt wear Simexs or anything like that on the road as I considder that it's not just me that I could be puting in danger if they delaminate or something stupid like that.
My ex brother in law put a set of these crap rims on his VL commondoor when he got his licence.
The wheels and tyres were worth twice the car and when they cracked and one of them departed the car at 100km/h he narrowly missed a bus and ended up upside down on the Princes Hwy near Werribie.
He tried to sue the supplier and there stamped on the inside was NOT FOR HWY SERVICE.
No I don't like them.

Given the number of vehicles in QLD with these silly wheels, one can only assume that QLDers cant read:eek: - not for highway service

When I worked in a tyre joint about 5 years ago all those bling type rims had it but im out of that trade now but I know my Bro in laws were stamped.
Buy the way his insurance wouldn't cover him either.

Just come to jolly old Canberra and wander the city carparks, You will see many pimped 4wds of all shapes and makes with those big wheels on em, you see any mud on them or the car either coz they dont get them dirty, they just want to ba sitting up a bit higher then the rest. On some cars they look ok, on others they look like crap, if the car doesnt go bush thats the owners problem, and gives the rest of a laugh

There is a dead set ****** driving around Northern Brisbane, in a Tojoissanbishi something. It is black, has the most horrid chrome wheels, with tyres 2 inches high!!!
And yes, he drives it with the ****** fog lights on.
By the look of him, he's old enough to shave and appears to have a car license.
It must be an age thing....

I know in SA the cops are getting pretty hot on non standard size wheels at present. Anything bigger than the fitment chart or basically bigger than 19" can and will be booked. For those with HSV's etc with 21" wheels from the dealer check your wheel charts on the car. My cousin has just had his VZ yellow stickered for having 21's on it. Even though they were fitted by a HSV dealer.
I do not like them and they are generally poser / bling value. Each to their own though. The benefit of these 4x4s that are not used off road is that they eventually provided good second hand 4x4s for those of us that buy second hand. It is this generation and their bad taste. No different to the differences of our taste and probablly our parents when we were younger. Variety is what makes life interesting and our comments should not be too harsh or personal. I do not like Fords, but can appreciate them and that does not make their owners tossers, err yes it does.

yhea your spot on in that regarde as i said in my post a good price for something that will make a top offroader for someone oneday!!! but u could allso take it as a complimet that they would use a truck as nice as the range rover is, as a base for those wheels,
thats the way i think anyway

Or you could say "What a way to absolutely ruin the good looks of a Rangie with those ghastly wheels".
They are awful. Dunno how anyone could bring themselves to buy them. He obviously lacks taste.
Oh, he won't sell the car without the wheels - he replied to my email.

Ron,
For some one to do that to a vehicle and think it is an improvement, they would be 35 to 40 years younger than us :D
