Hello,

I am building a Series 2 SWB with a fuel injected 3.8 Holden V6 engine. I am looking for info on 3way solenoid that I can installed to plumb into my 2 16 gallon tanks.

I need two so I can return fuel back to the tank.

Any ideas?

Military fuel taps ????

Would you need 2 solenoid sets? Perhaps one to choose the tank the engine draws from, the other in parallel to return the spill to the same tank?

Brown Davis has 2 way solenoids (2 in, 1 out) in Bayswater, Vic used on dual fuel tank installations.

You could try a boat chandler. Boats have all sorts of stuff that needs to be plumbed here and there.

Try looking at stuff used by waste oil users like

This Is what I was looking at going for to switch between my main and one belly tank in my RR.

You will need a 6 way tap so that each tank has an inlet and return line for the efi plus the in/out the motor. Try one of the replacement tank places like LRA or Brown Davis, ARB, TJM etc.

Looking at the Landrover Optional equipment catalogue - the diesel setup with the return line switched between tanks uses two two-way taps linked so as to operate by a single lever. Do you really need solenoids, with the potential for electrical gremlins?

Most of the electric solenoids will default to a position so at worst it will only work on one tank if there is a failure, you will need to work out where you will be placing the pump and if you will be using a surge tank first before worrying about the tank switching. I was going to rig efi on my old rangie with twin tanks but gave up due to the plumbing nightmare and running lpg most of the time.

Okay, so I'm not running a V8 in my S3, but I do have dual tanks, and mine is plumbed from left tank, via pump to fill the standard tank on the right. Just a simple toggle switch on the dashboard, and watch the fuel guage go UP as you drive along, very curious sight. That way it is a lot less complicated, as you only plumb for one tank .

Shorty.

Yep, our county and the S3 both have the same setup as shorty does (left pumps to right). The only other thing is that there was another switch to control the input to the fuel guage to check both tanks.
As shorty said, much less complicated as you don't have to worry about the connections to the engine.

Thanks fellas

Sounds like there is many ways of doing this.

I will be running a surge tank and was going to plumb this something like this (see attachment)

Looks complicated but its not that bad.
