Does anyone know if Turtle has sold his D1?

Is it a goodie? PM me if you don't want to say bad things on the open forum.

Apart from the gearbox, which has since been re-built, it's a very nice setup from what I can remember.

Colour, in my view, is a bit naff.

Bloody hell Ron that was a bit of a detour Toronto to your place via Wadonga!!! In 4 hrs

Think I'll be trading the TD5 in for a 300tdi, man they must be quick off the mark.

Like the baby on board sign, gives you an excuse to be driving slowly

I just got home from picking it up.

Thankjs to Dobbo for taking me to the seller and for checking it over before I made the trip up a couple of days ago for a look myself.

It runs quite well. There are a few things to fix:

The seats have sagged a bit.
The driver's window frame doesn't seal around the door opening so it is quite noisy (in comparison to a P38A)
The brakes pull to the left - it's really noticeable on a sudden stop from freeway speeds :) - I didn't notice it when test driving it.
It needs a very thorough degrease. The build up of muck indicates it hasn't been cleaned in many years.
The fuel gauge must be faulty even though it read nearly empty when I collected it - I filled up 170km ago and it still reads full :D
When you have a run going up some long, steep hills and some mug pulls out in front, you lose speed and can't get it back. :mad:Good points:

The motor seems good, it doesn't get hot.
There doesn't appear to be any rust around the alpine windows.
has a snorkel and bull bar
has a dual battery system.Ron

It's not a bloody V8, you probably haven't used that much to see a drop have you tried starting it up again?

It probably hasn't seen a full tank in a while, the gauge may have got stuck on a bit of dust

Good to hear the Tdi is going to a good home..............You'll soon get used to the Fuel gauge doing that.....on a run around 170 ish to the full mark from off the scale................best ever on a run was 330 to the 3/4 mark!!

Cheers,

Pug

jeeezz, doesn't it make the rangie look small in that photo. I sure hope you have a much better run out of the disco than the rangie, much less to go wrong, unless its a high spec one like i had with 7 seats twin air con, twin sun roofs etc and no room for much else in the back.

Hi Byron an image containing actually both of our vehicles (from the trip you mentioned) is being used on another website for advertising purposes. I asked if the image could be, removed or cropped so my vehicle was not seen. Things got nasty which resulted in my subsiquent banning from the site "for being a tool". As for using the image, it would have been nice to be informed before hand. This is the only reason I have a problem with it, legally yes they can use it, it's their image. I think it comes down to basic courtesy though.
