I sold my beloved 82 Rangie today
see http://www.lrocwa.org.au/forum/cgi-bin/YaBB.cgi?board=parts;action=display;num=1172882450

It was advertised this morning and I had the first call 1 hr later.
I thought $4500.00 was a higher price but actually had a caller from one of the mines up north who offered me $5500 sight unseen except for the pictures. unfortunatley I have scruples and said I have to at least give the first person preference to buy, but if he didnt then the second caller could have it.
The first one bought it and is very happy. He is also a club member so I know it will be looked after.
I have had it since 89 and it has been the best car I have ever had.
I have done a total of 400000kms since I had it and I was the second owner. We have fond memories of places we have been.
It was my pride and joy it was like my second wife.
I will recover...I think
I will now concentrate on my 89 vogue and see where we will go .
Thanks for reading all my dribble, but I feel like a family member has gone.

I know how you feel, Brad.

Hmm, my daughtercould have used that.

She's looking at a 1984 BJ45 LC Troopie (diesel) for $5K.

She'd like the 300Tdi Disco I bought 2 days ago but it's too far to go to Derby.

I don't think the price you asked isn't too expensive. People don't mind paying if it's in good nick such as your Rangie was.

I do have a beef with idiots that ask more than acceptable prices for complete ****boxe examples. I seen an similar vintaged Rangie like the one you sold for about $3K and it was nowhere half as good as yours. Dents up the side, rough interior, etc.. well you get the idea.

It is indeed a sad loss Brad, they become like the family pet we get so involved with each one.

I know how you feel, I must get rid of the white toy some time this year..... I said that about the same time last year........... it's too hard to let it go, I'll never build another like it. Like you there is too much on my driveway.

Hmm, what is the white toy?

AS I said, Lyndal wants a vehicle for use in Derby. I don't want her buying from the limited overpriced stock up there but equally, she'd have no idea when buying secondhand from Perth.

Brad,

I purchased an 81 2 Door RR last year and she is a joy to drive, I spend
as much time as possible driving her, my wife mainly drives our Disco.
Can understand your loss. she looked in great nick, but as you stated
has gone to someone who appreciates and will look after her.

They are just a sweet, vehicle.

Ps Ron A Pic of your white 86 Classic would be nice

Cheers

I have a 1982 Rangie, a beautiful ex Graeme Cooper serviced 2 door that has been really well looked after all its life, done just over 200K, so easy to drive, no bodge jobs, all replacement work done with the proper (or better) articles..... but I have been trying to sell it for about 4years! That is, as soon as I can will myself to let it go. So the "selling" gets as far as talking about it. I drive a 2003 Defender for the offroad and even weekly stuff, but when I climb in to the rangie, and drive it, I am just unable to put the hard word on her. So I know how you feel. Mind you later Rangies are pretty good too.
Cheers, from the Gold Coast!

Sounds good to me, thanks, Andy. Yes, it is a Derby vehicle. It belongs to a nurse at the hospital where my daughter is working. They are moving to Qld and were considering selling their D2 but have decided it would be more comfortable than the 45.

I'll check with Lyndal.
