Firstly... how many of you choose to use bio-diesel, ie out of choice, not just because your local stocks it?
Secondly here's my bio story... Just prior to a trip from SA to Darwin/Arhnem Land last year I had just found out about bio-diesel and feeling environmentally patriotic (it was also 4c/L cheaper too!) I decided to give it a go... In Adelaide there wasn't many servos stocking but there happened to be a SAFF just around the corner fm my place and on the way to work. They happened to stock the 100% mix here by the way...all the better for the environment I thought. Anyway I became a regular 'user' and the only difference I noticed was in my wallet and the exhaust flavour.
However... Some weeks later whilst my girlfriend was driving(!) the isuzu began to run very rough to the point that it stopped, behaving just like it had run out of fuel...(which has happened to me once before.) I bled the fuel system and re-primed etc and away she went but of course I had plenty of fuel on board. Thought that the fuel filter was clogging up as the literature suggests might happen as the bio cleans out the sludge from previous regular diesel. The fuel filter was changed and it looked a bit dirty so I put it down to this...onwards and upwards! But over the period of weeks leading up to our departure the same symptoms returned...always when she was driving...she wasn't happy and the all important girlfriend/landrover trust began to break down! Anyways to cut this story short, it turned out to be the gauze pickup filter screen located at the end of the pickup in the tank. It was obviously too fine for the now thicker viscosity of the bio. I haven't used and bio since ..mainly as it has not been an option up north.
Has anybody a similar story to tell?
