Had a chap round last night to design a new kitchen . he kept on asking me what i wanted.
I told him to speak to the wife ,Its got nothing to do with me
He was then shocked when i told him the garage is my area and the wife stays out and the kitchen is her area and i stay out of there.
I told him the Mian reason is that she does not know what most of the stuff in the garage does and i don't know what most of the stuff in the Kitchen does :D :D :D
Is it just me or are the rest of you like that

mmm must be differant
Part of the thing is my misses is an ex chef, so it would be rude not to let her cook plus i can't cook to save my life:D :D
So in our house she does all that stuff and i take car of the cars .
It is the only thing like that , everything else we share.
On a side point i work and have worked in the flooring trade for 15 years . And in that trade we sell to the woman of the house as they make all the desicons when it comes to thoses sort of things and the bloke is just seen as the cheque book. The amount of time you hear from the bloke, Yes Dear, thats fine dear , what ever you want dear :D :D

we BOTH make the important decisions between us.
Not like the household where the wife complained about not being allowed to make big decisions and was told by her husband, "OK you make the big decisions and I'll make the small ones. You can decide whether the US should withdraw its forces from Iraq and I'll decide whether we buy a new fridge."

Actually no Reads,
I cook, because I'm very good at it and there is a reason.
I spent a fair bit of my earlier life as a customer of some mighty fine restaurants. And I like restaurant quality food - so I learned from the masters how to prepare top tucker....
Can't beat a decent feed!!!
However, the Missus will not go near the shed;)

And thank you for reminding me, Reads - Friday is seafood night - time to get the scallops, prawns, oysters and bugs for a sauteed in chardonnay, cinnamon, coriander, garlic, challots, chives, red and spring onions and a drop or two of king island cream.
And only one of my many kids home tonight so more for me.....YUM!
the beautiful girl (aka the missus) will hopefully be very impressed......:p

If it were desigining something, i'd just probably revert to yes dear. after all, how much can you argue with an architect on design matters!!
Mind you, whe has no idea what some stuff in the garage (probably a good thing ;) ), but is better than most.

I'm considering a few mods to my kitchen.
Not too much but the one thing I really want is an indoor barby - a mate had one installed in his house years ago, what a top idea!!!!!
A great big barby hot plate grill rib setup with a side hard plate, it was the best kitchen 'appliance' I'd ever seen...

Well I have to pull my weight in the kitchen to. The joys of being married to a modern wife.:o
However on the upside she works to and does not complain about me going out with the boys every now and then. I do a little bit around the house and she is happy.

I do most of the cooking, but we designed the kitchen together and I built it. We make most decision like that together. Sometimes one can see certain aspects clearer than the other.
The shed's a separate issue as it's very hard to actually get into it at the moment!

I do all the grocery shopping, pay the bills and all the yard work, missus does the housework and the cooking, the one that I find most people have trouble with is that I can go on a trip for a month alone and the missus doesn't care.

well in the 3 relationships l have had with women, none of them made a decision that affected me other than the decision to come live me and the decision to leave me.
The decision to leave me hurt me the most financially

My wife designed our new kitchen. Me? I was happy with the old one and wouldn't have wasted money on a new one.
Gardening - her (I don't garden)
Mowing - often her as she doesn't like the way I do it - I'm not stupid ;)
Cooking - her (I'm a lousy cook - except when I make the curries)
Cleaning - usually her (as I can't see dirt)
Washing - shared - often me as I don't mind and I'm often home during the day
Ironing - me for my work shirts (if I iron them :) ), her for her stuff.

I stay in the garage till "dinner is ready" is yelled. She dosn't care what i do there.... Am i the only one?

Our cooking , cleaning and gardening are shared. House renovations are shared as well (she has more patience for fiddly painting, I can reach the high stuff). All the car stuff is my domain, but she does wash them sometimes (ahh, summer time and bikinis...:D ). As for ironing, we don't even OWN an iron, let alone waste our lives doing any :D :p .

We just go wrinkly :D .
I don't have to impress anyone. I already have her, everyone else can just take me as I am. She is of much the same opinion.
My work shirts are t shirts that don't need ironing. If I go out, a wrinkly shirt is just fine with me. Jeans would never be ironed anyway.
She is a school teacher (year 2) so anything she wears for work gets a hammering anyway.
We just both think that ironing is possibly one of the biggest time wasters possible in society, so we blankly refuse to do it.

Sorry to say Missus does the cooking (I am not a great cook) and most of the cleaning. We both do the renovating and gardening. I do most of the car work.
We made the deal when she stopped working to care for the kids. But we both help out when needed and are both happy to plan work on the house.

we kind of share the cooking but i really hate doing it
if i cook i'm the sort of person that would want to cook something out of the ordinary as i hate cooking cheap quick meals from a box........
which is why i dont like cooking, because i really couldn't be ar@ed
i usualy do most the cleaning but even that has been more shared recently..
so to make up for it i have started fixing my own car and doing the servicing etc......
so if you find any bits on the road on yeh wa to work in the mornings they are probably my'n:twisted:

My wife and I share the cooking - we both really like cooking and usually cook together if we are both home. Sometimes she helps me when working on the landies, or she will do something else (cleaning/washing) while I am working in the garage. Did he measure your Mrs feet? It's important to know how far away to put the sink. You're quite right not get involved. In our house there are pink jobs and blue jobs and pink areas and blue areas. Mowing the lawn is a blue job. Folding down the washing is definitely a pink job.
The shed is a blue zone, the kitchen is a pink zone. Works for us.

There is a school of thought that says that the real measure of whether a male is doing his share of household duties is not how often he takes his turn at doing the cooking, but how often he takes his turn at cleaning the toilet. Is anyone able to lay claim to doing an equal share of that?

Actually it is well proven that "The splashback effect" is caused by female urine hitting the bowl at an extreme velocity. With this well documented proof I feel it is quite fair that the person making the mess should clean it up.

My wife does most of the cleaning, we both cook, in fact I love to cook.
And, as a bit of a side thought, I design kitchens for a living.
I agree with what reads90 said on one of the first pages. When you're selling the things the man sits back usually and say "it's your kitchen dear, make it whatever colour you want."

Garden hose to the petrol pumper gurney hi pressure jobbie thingo, blast everything!

Gets rid of all the soap scum in the showers and all the residual crap in the crappers.....
mould on the tiles? gone in a flash!!!!!

You lot are making me look like a right royal a** hole. I don't even tidy up the shed. My wife has learnt how to mow the lawn and trim the edges. Mix the weed kill, feeds all the animals 2 cats 2 dogs 1 horse 2 boys and me, gets the feul for sally anne in gerris, if I ask for somthing she never forgets, she keeps the house up and running, takes control of search and destroy (the boys). But no ironing it is a waist of time. I only iron my uniforms cos it has to be done. In my defence works a killer!
