G'day i have just broken my rotor button and dizzy cap on my 76 2 door(don't ask) and i rang the local parts shop and they need to order them in for me. The problem is they only sell bosch stuff and my car has been modified from standard and I don't know which cap to get as mine has electronic ignition. I think. Is there any markings on the Lucas stuff that can tell me which cap I need.
Thanks
Thomas

Yeah im supposed to be driving it to Tuff Truck this friday arvo and it has been off the road for ages and im trying to get it going and its the last thing I need. I still have to finish the interior off since putting the auto in. I lost oil pressure so I had to prime the pump, I must have put the rotor and cap on wrong and when i started it up it ran for a couple of minutes then stoped I pulled the cap off and the rotor fell out in peices.:( .

Why not calla specialist like Graeme Cooper.
BUT you really should know what you have.
If its an aftermarket electronic ignition it will usually have an LED and chopper wheel inside, and the amplifier box will be somewhere else and have "Luminition" or similar on it.
In this case it will take the standard cap and rotor. BTW its not a good idea to fit aftermarket,as many rotors are bad from new. Buy Lucas from Cooper or similar.
If its a later dizzy it should have the amplifier on the dizzy.
The number of the dizzy is also on the side.

It's all good now. I went out to Bruce Davis Performance Landys and got a brand new dizzy cap and rotor. I got non genuine as they had no Genuine in stock and they wanted $65 for the cap and $86 for the button  Trade as well.
I came home and put them on and it started first go and purred like a kitten. Well as close to purring as you can get with no exhaust. 84RR I found out I have a post 84 County or post 86 Rangie electronic distributor it has a plastic cover over a wheel with 8 points on it. Hope that helps I can get a picture for you if you like. The new ones cost me $56 for both parts.

Sort of. I drove it up and down the street a few times, It needs more fluid in the auto and the neighbours were getting a bit annoyed. I just spoke to the exhaust blke he can't get it in till next monday, so I won't be driving it to Tuff Truck this weekend but hopefully next weekend it will be going properly. It gives me time to finish the interior off.

My 85 RR has an electronic dizzy but the rotor button and cap as per the catalogue will not sit down. The old one was a bit off so tried new and new leads but cannot close the cap as the rotor sits proud. Is there a difference between post 84 County and post 85 RR dizzy? The dizzy has a simlar number but ERR on the side and nor DRR. Any clues?
