Just wondering if any of you lovely people have tried to reduce the amount of "in car" noise in your Defender. What works? and what doesn't? Any tricks? What types/kinds of dedening materials have you used. Where did you gat them and what did it cost?

You beat me to it D110V8D,

I have started a similar thread, and am in touch with an other retailer in the U.S. It is RAMaudio, and have a price to ship out here. Will probably get some RAAMmat from them, and the sound deadning mat from INCISOR, on this forum. Definatly check out the sounddener showdown link, it is a wealth of information. If you are interested I could try and get a bulk purchase sent out here.

Good luck,

These work:

:D

I'm looking at doing the rear guards with the paint on plastic ute liner stuff to deaden road noise. Still haven't figured out what to do with the firewall, probably will leave it, as I like my vents open and so I'll get engine noise anyway.

I use kids. Once they send me deff I won't hear the Defender just feel the vibrations when bits fall off.

Hi Marek,

firstly, to stop drumming put rubber underneath too, something like I did (8mm conveyer rubber with webbing). And use it also for additional floor mats, easier to wash and sound deadning too. Rear floor mat 1500x460mm very good to put on ground to crawl under the car in bush :)

Very significant nose reduction. It will be cheap option to begin with, then you can start spending money on other "professional" staff.

This setup cost me nothing, because offcuts from local Rubber&Belts workshop :)

Ruslan

Buy a Stage 1, drive that around for a few weeks, then you'll wonder how they managed to make the Defender so quiet.:D:D:D

I agree with Numpty, we had a 2A wagon before and thought it was quiet compared to my 2A hardtop as it had roof lining and door trims. When we got the Defender we thought it was so quiet. Now every time I drive I think of ways to make it quieter or how I could move the radio speakers to somewhere near my ears instead of my knees, as I have to keep turning the volume knob up and down with my speed.
