My Defenders got a 90L sill tank and a 110L main tank. The last time I went to pump from the 90L sill tank back to the main it took the poor little pump over 10 hours. Had a look at everything looks clean, pump is same age as car 8 y.o. and is basically clogged up inside or stuffed. It's also a sealed unit.
Can anyone recommend a good replacement unit?
Never had to look at these things before.

its only a transfer pump.....not pumping any pressure.......
i would go the nearest wreckers and just get any electric external fuel pump you find......
and run a fuel filter before the pump.......
or....get 2 and have one as a spare........

I had that in mind and have been looking on the web, the only requirement is that it's OK with diesel. Unfortunately the nearest wrecker is a very, very long way away (i.e. plane flight).
I will definitely be putting a filter in line there though.

Yep, there's dumped cars around, but they're mostly stripped of EVERYTHING usable.
I'm keeping an eye out though as there are a lot of wrecks happen and, like you mentioned, they are all jap cars. So if I can get an old fuel pump I will.
