Is any one up for a half day run around Ormeau (corrected) on either Saturday or Monday - I will be going in for a couple of hours, this is not a club run but a casual run if anyone is up to it for those not going away.

Does that mean you haven't taken the Disco out far a while. ;)

I wonder if they have closed of anymore since the last time we went out there.???

Paul - did you get e-mail also please see club business.

Landy was out at Frazer last weekend but never got out of High range, also hoping that Micks long bilstens shocks will work better on the rear of landy and would like to try them out, to see if I get better travel instead of the massive clunk I get from the std landy shocks on the airbags.

So yes would like a bit of a run ---- I believe we can still get in by the water tower..

Camo and x-box

Keen to run on Monday if that suites you both as I would rather go up with a couple of vehicles - would like to try th hill that MickG and I had to winch Steinzy up - on my 2nd trip ever - so with no rain and vehicles a lot better equipped should be a good run.

Will keep post up over weekend and set a time and place for Monday.

Camo glad your coming electric winch up hill no hand winching (hey Mick):p :D

Remember I also have a electric and hand winch, so we can go even harder if you like

Tested the winch/tube bar at 'Cruisr a couple of weekends back, more than happy with the combo. Just need a dual battery off drivesafe and we'll be set (died a bit when I was doing a single line pull with the Rangie bogged to the chassis on a massive washout, ran out of grunt :( )

Re- meeting spot. I'll meet up at the water tower or near there (maybe at the shops at Ormeau as you go past)

Will let you know by pm Bolts or will give you a call at home on Sunday.

Grimaces old rangie had different diffs under it, so doubt that the panard rod would still be there. It is just a rolling chasis the rest was stripped/removed. Justin I've probably got a panard rod from the 2 door if thats a help

Hey Sam, should be fine to join us for a run tomorrow and I might suggest to Bolts that we split groups tomorrow anyway as we seem to have a fair few cars.....Ormeau is best tackled in smaller groups anyway I reckon so we can just orgainse a lunch time meet point and head off in different directions.....plenty of good tracks there to keep us amused.

Anyway, see you tomorrow, call me if you have any dramas, Mick - 0422 132 225

Yep got home after another hiccup with the Rangie.

Pulled into Yatala pies and suddenly the ignition died. Thinking itwas either the amplifier on the dizzy or the fuel pump or the ignition coil, got the tools out and started pulling bits apart left right and centre. Pulled out the fuel pump (glad I modded the floor as the std 87 Rangies had no provision for accessing the pump, the tank had to be removed to do this    ).

Pump was fine, coil was fine as was the ignition amplifier. I was about to declare defeat when I had a fiddle around the HT lead to the coil and we had a running engine again. That really ****es me off when something like that happens, always the simplest things that **** up :oops2: :oops2: Drove home no dramas :D

Just one of those days. By the way Mick, that's a good name for that track :lol2: :lol2:

well, another liesurly[arrg] nice day out.
the tough troop decided to go in the way that was blocked.
we went in another way which doesn't attract the council and the rock put'ters [another new word] and had done most of the easy stuff when we came apon the tough guys all que'd up in the creek as bolts was stuck on a rock - no easy way of saving him, so justin set about sorting him out and suggested we continue on and enjoy ourselves, thanks justin !
we offed and had more fun, many many rocks later we found ourselves back at the rescue. justin worked his butt off and bolts got free, only to lead us in all directions until he discovered the track he wanted was the one we had just come down on.
our group didn't break anything that i know of, [we won't mention my sway bar] and were not stopped at any obstacle ['cause i cant get over the hard stuff]
thanks to all for a good day.
isn't that defender awsome!!
and x box, sorry i didn't get the camera out all day, funny that, but for most of the day there was no one in front of me to photograph.

I was going to wait until after i had the video of some driving ready before posting but after reading Harry's post i thought i better pipe up.....after you left harry i decided to take on a rock, rock 1 disco 0. Caught the front diff on a rock and split it open. Oil everywhere and nothing to plug the hole. A tube of silicon and some racing tap slowed down the constant flow until we could get out. When we got down and to the shops we got some soap which was pretty effective at stooping the leaks, for 10 min or so to get home anyway
Until then was a pretty cruisy day with some good up and down hill runs. Dry, loose and rutty. On a positive note the new shock setup handled everything well, with plenty of new found travel
Will post some more footage when available, some of the best stuff to start.

2 winches, 2 snatch blocks, numerous chains and shackles a high lift jack and tree protectors and some cunning plans. put it all in a 2hr pot and you have a straightened rear steering arm + recovery.

Special thanks to MickG for treading on my foot and rolling the huge rock into my knee cap:D :D :D . Did have me p....ing myself laughing though(after the pain subsided):wasntme:

Extra special thanks to Bolts for putting your fingers between your steering arm and my bullbar to stop it getting scratched. Thanks mate.

Unlucky Stikman.......

I also took on a rock earlier in the day, and put a nice dent in the front diff housing. Lucky for me mine has already been welded up before, so had a bit of extra thickness there.......therefore no oil leak for me.

I think a diff protector is definitely a wise investment though.

Great day out though......I had a fun time, although I think I've put my neck out with all that bouncing around on the rocks. :)

Okay

Firstly a BIG THANKS to Justin (once again) MickG Aquarangie and Camo & Zoe (for video and photos of the whole saga) and Outlaw for helping get the car off the tree and rocks and then getting steering arm off car - straight and back on vehicle. Sorry to have held everyone up for 2 hours - not my best effort. Felt really **** for stuffing up everyones drive for 2 hours. You guys did a great job and the D2 runs straight no wobble at high speed as if the bar had never been bent.

As to what I did will wait for the video from camo and zoe for all to see first, but went down a track never done before over some rocks through a stream and dropped over a tree stump and rocks when bang - that was that steering rod caught on a rock and D2 staddled tree stump not going forward or back :o    Not happy.

After all the efforts from all above back on the track after 2 hours and D2 driving like nothing had happened. Managed to have a play afterwards until Stickman found a rock with his diff and time to go home.

Got home pulled off bar, straightened and re-attached - not perfect but looks a lot better than what it did, will look at getting a 2nd hand tjm or arb bar down the track.

Thanks again to the everyone for the helping out and getting me back on the road.
