View Full Version : Painting my rear Defender "bumper"

Can anybody recommend a black paint or type of paint to tidy up my rear bumper doovey? The paint seems to have disappeared and it is getting a bare metal rusty look that is not advisable.

And could somebody also help me find the word for this doovey which is on the tip of my tongue but I can't get to it.

thanks

Hi James,

I just used one of the anti-rust spray cans, came up a treat.

Rear cross member I believe. ;)

Cross-Member!! Thanks:blush:

And thanks for the paint advice. I'll tape up some newspaper to protect the back door from over spray but me being me maybe I should ask now how to remove overspray from the rear door, my glasses, the floor of the carport, the next door neighbours Bentley... Ah stuff it, I'll think positively.

No wait, here's one: How do I fix the duco that comes off the rear door when I use the wrong type of masking tape?

Oh dear maybe I should just leave well enough alone.

Sratch it up with 240 grit, etch prime it, But get etch primer that is also a kill rust.
Then i use GMH Black. It is a subframe Chassis black. i use it on everything.... Sliders, Swing aways the lot.

Ohh mask it up 1st.

I have to do the same thung as mine is rusty, but I have been putting it off because removing the Kaymar tyre carrier is a pain. It looks good with the paint.
