OK

Who knows the history of the Defender 130 KingCab?

What was behind LRA asking for it?
How many were built/sold in Oz?
Were they built off the factory floor or were they a special?
Were they ever sold in any other markets?
Does anyone have one?

Just interested as a saw one over Easter and I had forgotten they existed.

Hello noddy, I own a 130 king cab but I am not up to speed on their history. I understand they were built in Qld, but not in large numbers.Although they are only about 150 mm longer in the cabin than a standard cab, it is very comfortable for a taller guy like me.The seats are about 50mm further back which helps legroom enormously and lets me get back from the wheel to a nice position for long distance driving. The doors rattle a lot, probably because there is no support under the door lock pillar and the doors appear to move up and down in the opening. There is no play in the hinges so there must be movement in the cabin itself. I am in the process of reinforcing the cabin floor to see if that sorts it out.Cheers.

G'day Folks :)

From memory they are 127's that predated the 130, and they were done at Pressed Metal Corp. from memory, most went to Govt Depts but there were a number that were sold through the dealers, :)

saw one the other weekend in Caboolture that was converted to a 300 tdi Auto for the owner that has a slight disability. nice looking vehicle.

cheers

I saw my first in Cooma at the 50th Anniversary (where I first saw OLR's bloodbox).

G'day P38arover :)

That wasn't OLR-067 that you saw, it was Stephen Stansfield's "Norma Jean" alias OLR-065 :) it took out the Best Restored Military Vehicle, Stephen still owns that one, but has had ill health for quite some time now, James Taylor, the Landrover Historian and Editor of Landrover Enthusiast Magazine was most impressed with it :D as he had never seen an Australian Military Ambulance and they differ greatly to the U K ones.

And one with the canopy taken off to get refurbished (ignore the arrow and text - that was for another post):

As others said, but it was Big Cab 130 (not 110). Didn't know they were local build though. And Uncle, the 130 as far as I know is still 127, just changed the name to match in with 90 and 110.

Tell me some more about the stratos seats. I've been looking at replacements from a RR Classic or a Disco II, as well as a Holden Astra which has fantastic leather inserts and still looks washable. How much were the Stratos? Got any pictures?
Cheers
