Hey Folks
This is not my car but their is a Beige 1985 4 door that has been left near a park in Kedron in Brisbane apparently for the past couple of weeks. The council knows its there and it will be sent to be scrapped. There are no plates or rego sticker to identify it.
The steering wheel has been taken along with the mags. It has gas fitted in the back. It has side steps and bullbar. It is an auto.
Thought I'd post it incase anyone knows the car. The gas was fitted by Torquegas at the sunnycoast in 95 and has rockhampton land rover sticker on it.
Cheers Guy

Could be worth it for the gas system. A second hand system for a RR went on eVilBay yesterday for $1200.
Fit it to your car and the govt. will give you $2000

In QLD you'd need a new tank, you wouldn't be able to get a gas cert for one, or register it with a tank over 10yr old.
Of course if you just replaced an old tank in another vehicle and didnt tell anyone, or kept your tank in for 20 years that's OK:eek:
Tip for young players - QLD - no annual inspections, very few "on the road" inspectors - this allows you to keep your old dunger rusting and falling to bits, leaking away and still legally on the road!!
QLD - gotta love it:D

So does anyone know the process if you wanted some parts from the car, who would you contact. The city council bloke wouldn't/couldn't give an answer as to the correct way to go about it.
I wouldn't want to just go and take stuff off it - that would be stealing the stolen. Its seems a waste for it to be dumped.

I would ring the council concerned and possibly the Police. They should be able to help.

One gets the tank checked and recertified. I had mine done this year.

spoke to the police - no interest as on council property and the plates etc are missing, spoke to council - they advise they try to contact previous owner but if no success then the car goes to Auction through Fowles

In the ACT it used to be contact the traffic authority and once they put a removal number on the windscreen (If it still has one) you could claim it.

Will someone with a flat bed just go and grab the damn thing. The cops don't care, the council don't care, its pretty obvious the owner doesn't give a toss.
You would already have buyers for the parts. It just makes sense. infact if you sent an invoice to the council for wreck removal they would probably pay it.

Dumped cars make great parts cars  .
I know someone who's even put wheels back onto dumped cars to pick them up :) .

There is also a white 4 door abandoned in a paddack on Logan Road at Holland Park. It has been there for 6 months. The grass was over the bonnet until a few days ago when a slasher made short work of the grass. I think the lot is owned by a car dealer. It is a good straight car very original. could be worth salvaging for bits if anyone is interested.
Cheers
Andrew
