Has anyone had an experience with these guys that run around in vans and do minor scratch repairs etc ?
I just wondered what their work and pricing was like compared to taking it to a panel shop ?
I presume they just overlay more paint on top rather thn spray the whole panel.
I have a few scratches that have gone through to the bare metal I want to get fixed. ( normally i would just polish them out but these are a bit deep for that )

I guess the skill of repair depends on how good the person is.
The other half SWMBO(sometimes) reversed her brand new car into a wall, typical. anyway put a hole in the rear shroud, organised a home paint and repair guy. For $150 the guy repaired the hole, resprayed and it looks really good. It was a hell of a lot less that the panel beater/stealer price of $400 I paid when she reversed the rover into the front shroud of a late model falcon(aren't tow bars good). Same size hole and a white car versus the metallic type paint on ours, definately cheaper
So for my experience they are good. But this guy is in Ballina perhaps a bit far for you to drive.

Thanks
There are three or four outfits here in Melbourne that do it- they all claim they do a magnificent job of course. :)

We had Elisabeth's previous car done - it looked great. :)
The next day some so-and-so reversed into it whilst it was parked at the shops and scratched it all up again - then drove off without saying anything.

Got a mate in Brisbane who owns and runs a "touch yup guys" franchise. He had a government contract for a while and does a magnificent job. He is really good with colour coded plastics like bumpers/mirrors etc.
see if you can for referee's maybe??
Cheers

Sure Ali
Not sure on respraying entire panels, but you never know. His name is Paul Radcliff and his number is 0419 722 324. He lives at Coorparoo so he is not too far from you
Just mention me - Andrew Whittaker from the old Qld Crime Commission.
Cheers

We had a mobile touch up van attend to a minor paint scrap on the rear corner of the bumper to our Astra. $157 for a respray of the rear corner of the bar as well as a walk around the car touching up any other marks using the left over paint.
The colour matching is fantastic and the result, undetectable to the naked eye. He sanded the whole left side of the bumper and then did the re-spray. The rest of the bumper suffered over spray which is only noticed when running your hand over that section of the bumper. Quick clay bar fixed that but a little poor I thought.
I'll try to find a recepit or look up the name of the guy we used but I think I would try someone else next time. He worked in the E/SE side of Melbourne. Panel Beater is more expensive but if it's a large area i.e. bonnet, I would use a Panel Beater. Touch Guys are just that - touch ups.
Overall - yes, I recommend it. Give it a try.

There are mobile guys around that just fix up dents.
Mate of mine had a fairly big dent on the door of his mazda rx8... got these guys in.... no paint... they just banged the dent out and just 'touched' up the paint only where it needed it.
He said they made a hell of a noise which concerned him a little bit but the job was fantastic.
In my mates case it avoided re-sprary of the whole side of his car.
Worth considering I reckon....

Sorry to revive a dead thread but just wanted to say thanks to Andrew for the tip.
Used Paul at Touch Up Guys to work on a scratched up VW Polo last week and he did an amazing job. I unreservedly recommend him.
