Ever wondered how fast your TD5 D2 is over a 1/4 mile?
Saw one at Willowbank on the weekend 19.42sec @ 68mph best pass.
Odd choice for a drag car I thought;)

Saw a young lad in his mum's Marina, years ago at Adelaide. Put down a scorching 21.4, smokin' the exhaust all the way. Was beaten by a B61 Mack truck, that layed down a 14.1. Lovely big Gold truck.
But a TD Disco? Come on. That isn't even trying to be ridiculous.
Shorty.

Thats hillarious! Its the furthest from a drag car you could possibly get.
Maybe the cloud of black smoke interfered with the timing equipment.

I think it was a set up for the night.. A garbage truck beat it that night as well, mind you it was empty. It was such a funny sight, I still chuckle thinking about it.
But that big Gold coloured B61 was the real deal. Big quad turbo V12 Cat, when it launched, it lifted its front left wheel up to door step height, and made the most god awefull howling sounds from the big single rear tyres.
Now that's it, how much weight can a Disco carry? How big an engine can we get into one? Bah, more than enough to do this year as it is. If it ever rains!
Shorty.

yea,, but I bet the Suby's still going;):D:D
my '88 brumby is up to 250,000kays
still gets 30odd mpg, still requires no top=ups between oil changes, just come off 2 years of 90kays per day (av speed 110kph)travel without a single stoppage. :D

Dont be suprised with prime movers, without trailers they can really get up and go. Remember some have up to 600 odd HP on tap with dual rear drive.

My 120y coupe, A14a twin dellorto carbs, exaust cut off at the extractors and interior stripped out to bring it down to 895 kg with me in it pulled a 14.51 at calder back about 12 years ago on 13" bob jane out of rounders 185 75 13.
The whole car was built from bits and pieces from a mate wrecking yard and we did it as a joke but couldnt believe the time from that piece of crap.
Didnt win anything but my mates still talk about it when anyone starts on about drag racing.

White knuckled amazing stuff, wonder if it smoked up all four tyres on takeoff?:D
Bit of practice and it might get below 19 seconds!
Drag racing is a hoot!

Ah, no. I bought it with about 30 000 kms on board, sold it with well over 200 000km. Never had to tow it for break down reasons. About 3 months after I sold it, the new owner (a mate) rolled it:o , wheels to wheels. He drove it home (no windscreen) and it never drove again...:(

If you practiced switching between low and high range on the fly I suppose a quicker time could be acheived. And don't forget the Bowler wildcat comes out with a TD5 option, admitedly a worked motor with a much lighter and rigid body and chassis design but the basics are there in a D2

Yeah, another soul mate. Not a big fan of drag racing as such, my racing career high point, was the 1980\81 Speedway Sidecar National titles. Out of 16 contested heats, I managed 1 third place. Scored a whopping 17 point total in the National Title Final.
Speedway points scoring for motorcycles runs
1st place 3 points
2nd 2 points
3rd 1 point
all competitors receive 1 point for finishing the race.
16 races, 17 points.:( But, the champion has to beat somebody, it took the best in the country to beat me.
More power to us also rans, hey BigJon.
