View Full Version : No more V8 Petrol Land Rovers in 2008

Just read that there won't be a V8 petrol engine in any Land Rovers from 2008 (apart from the supercharged model), and that 90% of all LR's ordered last year were Diesel! Didn't realise that Diesels were so popular.
Sad to see the end of the V8 - can't beat that sound through a good exhaust system.

Had to happen sooner or later with the price of oil and the fact that the new crop of TDV8's are so much more refined compared to diesel's of a few years ago.

v8's are great... i've got 2... but the sound of a diesel is also quite impressive through a 3" exhaust

" Didn't realise that Diesels were so popular. "
Well Landies are popular in a lot of parts of the world, and what choice of engines do you get???:p
That may explain the % of ones sold being diesel...

Im just a bit sceptical of getting a diesel because of the plastic dowels for the heads and oil in the wiring loom that goes to the computer

Well I have never had a problem with my TD5, I'd get a V8 but I'm a bit sceptical of the warped exhaust manifolds, the slipping linings, the fuel consumption, the higher insurance premiums.

Go the venerable V8. Mind you, a TDI-V8? That I've love to see (in an older model of course :) ).

Excellent. So I just need to keep mine for say 28 years and it will be worth, er, a bit more.
