Anyone know how to reassemble 1996 Disco deluxe sidesteps?

G’day mates,
Thanks to waynep I got a set of side steps for my Disco…now I just need some advice on putting the four (4) rubber plates back on the steps before I fit them to my Disco. (2 rubber plates on each step)
The steps waynep gave me are genuine LR sidesteps, the Deluxe version with the rubber plates, the rubber plates are attached to the side step with small bolts and metal clips but as waynep removed these steps from his Disco about 18 months back, he could not remember how they went together and so far no one else can tell me how to fit the rubbers back on the steps!
I have been to see and talk with LR here in Geelong…they can’t tell me and LR no longer make side steps! I then contacted our LR specialists, this garage works on LRs, no other vehicles but…they can’t tell me how to put the rubbers back on the Disco steps! I have stopped to chat with every Disco driver I could find that had side steps fitted but every single driver I talked with had the standard side steps fitted (the ones with the metal checker plate step) And so as a last resort I’m asking forum members for their advice, surely someone out there knows how these four (4) heavy rubber plates are held in place with the clips and small bolts?
Any advice anyone can give on reassembling these deluxe side steps, before fitting them to the vehicle, would be welcome as the wife needs the steps fitted to safely enter the Disco, at present the wife uses a little stool/step I made for her to enter the Disco.

mate the clips are not for the sidsteps - I remembered later ... they are for the plastic windshield things on the driver and passenger windows I also took off.( i'll have those clips back sometime if you don't mind as I might put them back on the car one day.)

I am pretty sure those rubber things just bolted on top with the plastic bolts- it wasn't sophisticated. But if I were you I'd glue them on to stop dust and stuff going underneath.

Thanks for the heads-up on the side steps...LR Geelong or the other LR specialist could not give me any info on the steps :o I'll take your advice and glue the rubbers in place...as well as using the small bolts, as for the clips...let me have your address again and I'll send them back to you :).

I also gave mine a coat of brushable bitumastic before I screwed the rubber pads on. Thought it was good long term insurance.

They are fitted with the plastic screws.
Easy to do & can be a bit tricky underneath, but it becomes obvious if you first loosely assemble them on the ground.
