Found this via another Forum.
There must be some pea sized marketing guru's minds out there thinking we'd be convinced these yank tanks are the best.

gee PCH, the marketing dudes are only doing their job. Having seen some of the 'hummer' videos around, I think there may be a certain amount of operator error in the demise of some, broken steering rod ends not withstanding......(that is funny tho', must make them out of used banana peels)....
The only Hummers I ever see are usually black H2s with huge bling wheels, cruising around the Gold Coast, wouldn't want to get it dirty going offroad!

I drove a military hummer in Hawaii in 1990.
It was fun in the mud!:D Felt quite stable, but the mil ones are a lot bigger than the civvy versions.
The one I was in had a TOW fitted. Great for despatching toymotas and missins:D

The h2's are just a suburban with a different body, Basically anyway. The h1's are very capable for there designed purpose, they aren't that good for very tight tracks or hardcore rockcrawling in standard form, But what is? My old man has an ex USAF 1987 Humvee and for outback long distance touring it can't be beat. They did the northern simpson last year with a GU Patrol a 100 sreies turbo d and a 78 traytop and the others stuggled where the hummer went. And the mil spec ones are the same size as the civilian real hummers(H1's). The overall width of my dads is 2160 mm thats 200 mm wider than a 100 series Land Cruiser and has the same wheelbase as a LR 130 dualcab. Most of the videos on the net of them are of people not knowing how to drive them properly. Just a few observations.

We saw the H3 at the Motor Show last year, as most know its heaps smaller than the H2 and H1, has no interior room, a tiny slit for a windscreen huge B-pillars so it has enourmous blind spots and only has a 3.7L 5cyl Petrol engine, oh and it was ugly. :D

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, Ace.
Hummers are what they are, and isn't it good they're not shaped or designed by Ssangyong:D
which Russian philosopher once said: Quantity has a quality, all of its own.
...must've been leering at a Humvee...:D
