This is some prices of new landrovers that i got from a dealer in Thailand when I was there a few weeks ago.
The exchange rate is about 27 baht to the aussie dollar

Freelander TD4 SE 2,120.000 baht $78,158
Freelander TD4 HSE 2,490.000 baht $922,222
Discovery 3 TDV6 SE 4,560,000 baht $168,888
Discovery 3 TDV6 HSE 4,990,000 baht $184,814
Discovery 3 V8i HSE 6,930,000 baht $256,666
Range Rover Sport TDV6 6,280,000 baht $232,592
Range Rover Sport V8iHSE 8,450,000 baht $312,962
Range Rover Sport Supercharged 9,650,000 baht $357,407
New Range Rover 8,860,000 baht $328,148

I understand there is a large import tax on luxury cars to put the prices up. Still, they seem to sell a few at these prices .
There is a finance option of 4.05% or 4.25% depending on the term of the loan if anyone is interested in buying one there:)

Approx 300% more expensive! That's impressive!

Im confused..... does Thailand have a local car industry that they need to protect or does LR want to only sell to those that have so much money that they wont actually drive them and hence they wont require servicing :)

opps, i made a mistake. a Freelander TD4 HSE is only $92,222.
As far as I know, the import tax applies to all luxury cars so BMW and Benz would have the tax as well
The dealership looked like they had a good service centre out the back.

they have a landrover club there. this link has a few photos of landys there including a 6 wheel series

There's gotta be a business opportunity to buy one here and ship it to Thailand as a personal import and then sell it. You'd only have to do one a year to make it worthwhile. Might take some cash in brown envelopes though :o

They have huge tarriffs on imported cars.
Its the main reason Rodeos,Tritons,Mazda/Courier,and pretty sure the Hilux are now made there, cheap labour and they can actually sell them there without the tarrifs.
