hi,
i'm needing to replace the 2 downpipes and Y piece on my V8 exhaust (110, 3.5) i've ordered the parts and have a question regarding the Y piece. the part i'm taking off is very clearly 2 pipes welded an angles onto a larger pipe. the new part is 2 pipes squashed and pushed into 1 larger pipe and welded round. do i need to be worried about a restriction in the flow of gasses?

sounds like there might be a slight restriction but I wouldnt be too woried, You could always spend a bit of coin and buy a set of extractors, and mate them to a 2 inch muffer.

should look a lot like this

yea,, I know thats 4 into 1

but you can clearly see there is NO compression of inlets

Yep dont **** round with restrictive pipes get sum proper headers 4 into 2 into one with nice long primary pipes and you will love the extra tourqe and econamy it will give well worth the bucks :D:D

I remember reading somewhere,,,
35in primarys,,,

may not have been for a rover V8 though:angel:

do you feel its worth goining for better extractors even with the lower compression 3.5? how about RR classic manifolds? is the difference in performance/torque noticable?

IMHO opinion its definatly worth it. I had a two rangies with basically stock motors, both were 3.5s The one with extractors was defianly better in torgue nad econamy plus witha 2 1/2 system it sounded really good.

Some one else can confirm, but I heard from a 110 owner that the standard rover extractors for Rangies, dont fit the County. Something 2 do with the studs?

Yep the right extractors are worth the money, If you can find a company thet has them as a standard line. unfortunately for a 2004 V8 I'm yet to find that only people that will do custom work and they will charge a fortune.

I had HM headers on my Rangie, and I have seen them on 110's also. It is worth paying good $$ for good exhaust headers.

They are well made and look as though they have good flow characteristics.

Alternatively, you could try EFI twin outlet manifolds and down pipes from a 3.5 EFI RR. These exit reasonably straight towards the rear, where you can fit a full twin side by side system or get a decent y piece made.
They flow well too and are much less likely to split and leak like extractors can after heaps of off road work.

so just to make sure, you CAN fit exhaust headers from a classic rangie to a 110.

Not so sure, but I have seen that BRAND of extractors on a 110. The cast EFI manifolds Definately fit, and I would say that the twin outlet down pipes would go close also.

Hope I haven't caused too much confusion.

I heard that the 3.9 Disco manufolds are as close as you can get to an extractor pipes second primary pipe. Will they fit inside a Defender rails? I dunno.

This is my 4.6 and stainless set of headers before it went into the 130. You'll notice it's the 2 into 1 set up and then the 2 single pipes meet before the 'Y' peice..... I didn't use the CATs either...UAE doesn't have the same requirements as UK or Australia.
