Ok
Need help
What is the trick to getting a viscous 3.9v8
been trying last night and gave up.
Seen it done with an air chisel in seconds before , but that was when a company in the Uk changed the head gasket in my 200TDi winch challenge truck in 30 mins (real F1 pit style)

u trying to remove it?
you rembered its a left hand thread?
seen a car mechanic just take a chisel and big hammer drive the nut around, you need to lock it in place, land rover have a special tool but i imagine some well placed spanners/screw drivers would work.
have you got offset spanner that helps think they are avaliable from the likes of repco.

Well its for a 3.9 and looking at the new pump it looks like a rh thread.

I'm pretty sure my 3.9 was a RH thread (1994 Disco).
My nut was bigger than other have said too. It was a 36mm or there abouts.

Yeah that would be about the same as mine. My biggest spanner i have is 32mm and that did not fit

According to RAVE, both the 3.9 / 4.0 they are both a RH thread.

I can assure you that a 3.9 with V belts is LH thread.
Looking from the front of the car , you hit a large spanner with a lump hammer in a clockwise direction towards the passenger side.
So if its v belts hit that way and it should loosen

I have checked RAVE for the D1, D2, 300tdi, TD5, Defender
The D1 and D2 V8, according to RAVE have RH thread, the Defender 300 tdi - RAVE states is a LH thread.
On the TD5 and V8 for the Defender RAVE doesn't say LH or RH.

I made a spanner out of a piece of 50mm wide flat bar. To stop the pulley turning, a Stilson/monkey/pipe wrench hooked over the pulley (90deg from the way you would expect to use it) & a small piece of timber to protect the pulley against the jaws.
Good luck
