I was given this by a mate that knows less about them then I do, but I have the manual. My question is, the thing has a colour mapping system in it for the entire country, I can sit on my verandah and scroll down the map to Sydney, zoom in and out, every tiny little back track appears. Is this an installed program or is it just what you get with a GPS??I am amazed at the detail.

they do come with a base map loaded onto them, which typically will show you most of the maps you will need, but not topos.
they also have a 256mb mini sd memory card slot which can be loaded with more detailed maps.
it is quite a good unit and it would serve you well to have a look at the agrmin website to find out as much as you can about it.
cheers

If it has a lot of tracks installed it might have tracks4australia installed.

have been researching Gps's.
That Garmin model consistantly pops up as the ducks guts...
If your mate gave it too..(as in forever) buy him a beer..if not make the most.

You do see dudes advertising Aust tracks on CD-ROM and mini SD cards on e-bay..
