View Full Version : Landed myself a free Rangie (well almost)

As the title said, scored myself a free Rangie. Actually it's a wreck with front end damage and the bloke who owned it rang me yesterday and offerd it to me. Of course I was intersted anhd was told by the panelbeater to get it out of his yard in no uncertain terms as it was sitting there for over a year :eek:

Total cost so far was $90 for a tow from Jimboomba and I recieved the Rangir this arvo.

This Rangie has a interesting history as it used to belong to my parents who sold it to him. Dad has spent several $$$$ on it with a rebuilt engine, gearbox, transfer in 2004 as well as Bilstein shocks/LRA springs, extractors and other gear I can't remember at this point in time. Also the Rangie is fitted with leather seats (non electric, rarity on this vintage and what I prefer) The damage isn't too severe but I will be stripping it anyway (as it's worth more in bits than a whole which is sad :(:(

At this point in time, I haven't decided what I'll sell offf and what I'll keep but expect some gear up here on the forum for good prices soon.

Hey Trav

I know its a long shot that the interior is tan or cream, but if you wreck it put my name down for the back seat.

Thanks justin

Sorry it's grey Justin. The leather seats will be going into my Rangie because they're near mint and like in another post I put up in the General section, it's a rarity that they are manual winding not electric (I prefer manual, less **** to go wrong).

The velour one I have is for salr thoug, that's alos I good nick but unfortunatley it's the wrong colour :(:(. Ask Hobie18, he wrecked the Grimace-mobile and may have a tan coloured rear seat I think (worth a shot).

Cheers Trav, I've sent Justin a pm, anything else you require, could nearly open up a rangie wrecking yard. Yep Grimace's original rangie/?? fully stripped. Gearbox seems to be behaving so far, now that I adjusted the cable properly so that I can actually manually put it into first gear.

You blokes in Vic must be giving the **** away, they're charging like wounded bulls in QLD so I based my prices on what they charge on avg. and dropped them by around 10-15%.

This also stop all the scabs who want everything for nothing bothering me as well. If the gear doesn't sell, will probably just lower the prices but I'm in no hurry to offload the stuff either.

What am I, paranoid or are you just busting by balls :eek::eek:

So you're saying that I should just give the Rangie parts away just beacause I got the ****er for nothing should I?? Yeah, not bloody likely.

By the way, I am a Victoran ex-pat anyway, glad I left that hole of a joint called Melbourne 13 years ago. Best thing I did and never regretted it :)

Hey Josh

Both of Grimaces rangie are/were white. His old one which he started to modify/chop/destroy then lost interest, I bought the motor/gearbox etc and stripped the car in the process of getting to the gearbox as mine had/was dying.

Not sure what he is doing with the current one, I believe he has a new battery for it.

Cheers Guy

Probably are but if people are generaly interested I would negotiate, I don't intend on ripping people off, but I have stuffed up a few times but I'm only human I guess :(

I think I'm catching up to you, have wrecked about 11 Rangies to this date but haven't done it for a while now so I could be out of touch.

We'll wait and see I guess.
