Here is a pictorial that sums up my weekend. In order of occurance.

See what you can identify.

PS: The infringment was a country driving genuine mistake and not a blatant and unsafe disregard for the law that you may think by looking at the penalty.

Honest officer, I was driving along when I saw an elephant in the middle of the road. I stopped, of course, but there was nothing I could do to get him off the road.

I eventually got out of the car to have words with the elephant, maybe not the best idea, I know. Words were exchanged, I don't know how it happened but his trunk got caught in the door.

No, officer, I promise I wasn't drinking.

:D:D

Cheers
Simon

1. 7 points and $1000, thanks for coming.

Friday afternoon, cruising on 117km/ph in 110 zone coming back from up north in the boss's black SS ute. Apparently I missed the first speed sign coming in to Dongara although it was still a fair way out. Still just a straight highway with farms either side. Anyway, I should have been doing 70km/ph

2. TD5 Turbo inlet hose collapsed. (lots of smoke and no go)

Picked up the Disco from the boss on Sat and got not more than 300 meters from work when the turbo just stopped working and a lot of smoke poured out under any attempt for revs. luckily I was only 200 meters from Brit Parts in Carlilse, hose replaced and on our way in 45 mins

3. Reversed into a power pole whilst carefuly checking the distance...the other side of the car. :(

What can I say......except YOU IDIOT! There is an upside to this one though, I was in the process of picking up a 8 person portable spa that I got hold of for free.

These are my three things and they are not exactly minor so should last me quite some time.

Doh.:o
Enjoy the spa anyway.:D
$1000 bucks and 7 points. They place those speed reduction signs in some stupid places and if you are not used to the road can miss them quite easily. I have done this several times. Also they ahve a tendency to move them every couple of years just to catch people out.
Another upside, doing 117 in a 70 they could have confiscated the car under anti hoon legislation.

The anti hoon laws get abused. When I was in Kal one of our safety officers observed just such. Now this guy is a stickler for safety. Young guy came out of an intersection in a 60kph zone in a ute, wet greasy road (not raining, you know the sort that catches you off guard on a nice day) and the wheels chirped and the back end slid about 1/2 metre, cops there, booked and confiscated. Safety officer was ropable as he siad there clearly was no intent, no showing off, no revving. Just coppers after a young driver in a nice SS ute. Probablly jealousy of a young guy in a nice car. Not condoning idiots or dangerous driving, but is open to interpretation.

I got that down in albury on the way out, booked for chirping the wheels, took it into the police station and demanded to know how a 4x4 with traction control could possabley spin its wheels through an intersection on a dry road....

officer was called to front and admited that It might have been the car next to me but I was the one he caught.....

As the young c**tstable was torn a new one after the ticket was torn up by the seargent on duty I walked away smiling.
