Hi everyone. I am looking for some new wheels and tyres for my IIA 88.
I would like to have 30x9.5-15 or 31x10.5-15 I haven't decided which.
I have a few tyres in mind, but I can't seem to find any decent wheels!
I am looking for 15x7 or 15x8 steel wheels, preferably in black, but I will paint them if I have to.
What are my options? Please show me what you have! Thanks :D

Thanks :) The reason I ask, is that I've been to all the wheel/tyre shops I can find, and none can source any wheels for my Land Rover. It looks like you're running 8 spoke wheels? What brand, and where did you get them?
I also have no idea what will fit my IIA. I will only be lifting it slightly, 2" at most. It has 205R16's on it now. If 31x10.5's will fit, I'd like to go with those....

Gday,
Perhaps not new, but there are MANY wheels floating around, often with good tyres attached! Find out the PCD and offset that you want, then check out ebay consistently, looking for tyres of the size you want. IE simex, Goodrich, etc. You will find often hilux owners buy 31"s for an offroad rig then decide togo larger, and sell both wheels and tyres often close to new. Otherwise, the classified on the 4wdmonthly forums contains some good choice time to time.
Even for rims, use Wheel Wizard (http://www.tempetyres.com.au/wheel_wizard.asp) to find other cars with similar wheels.
cheers!

My wheels are mangels brand sunraiser rims 15x8 with a 30 or 50 mm off set you shouldnt have any dramas with the wheels your talkin bout tho id source a set of disco 1 rims as they willfit and run a 255x85x16 or a 235x85x16 but its up to you ...
As for what fits series/rangie/county/defender/disco 1 are all the same stud pattern tho they have different off set so you have a fairly wide choise id go with disco1 rims as there 16x7 and theres lotsa different size tyres available or go for sum 15x8 sunnies :D:D:D:D

Thanks for that. I would prefer 31's, anything more is a bit too tall for the 2.25 to turn, isn't it?
You say 30 or 50mm offset, is that positive or negative offset?

Dauntless, I had some 15x7's on my 109, running 31x10.5's. They come up all the time on ebay, I mean ALL the time! You do want a bit more offset (and positive or negative apparently differs depending on the system used - you want them set with the rim 30-50mm OUT or the hub the same amount IN relative to standard). In reality, anything with the right PCD will have a good enough offset.

Thanks Steve! What is the offset of the stock rims? +33? That makes the 15x8's sound ideal, at 0 offset.
This is the way I have always understood offset:

I have seen some 15x7's on ebay, but haven't seen any 15x8's in my price range yet. I would probably be better off buying used wheels, as I will be painting/powdercoating them black anyway.

To tell the truth, I don't understand it! I gather there was an old standard that was the other way around - the current one is what you say.
The Land Rover PCD only fits Land Rovers up to the end of the Disco 1, and any LR until then, so I gather. The offset only changes based on what width tyre was being fitted - wheels for 6.00 x 16 are slight more negative offset than wheels for 7.50 x 16. But ignore that - you want PHAT tyres.
Unless you have some unusually precise engineering, I'd say anything you can get will have been set up to take a 31 x 10.5 on a Range Rover - this will work fine on your 2a. The ones I had were offset to the extent that now I have gone back to 235/85 x 16's on County rims, I get rubbing on the front of the springs at full lock (need to adjust my stops).
You will need arch extensions, and if you are a flex junkie, you might need to trim guards - will depend on your suspension setup more than anything else, as the wheel WILL extend at least to the guard.
Still, I'm no wheel expert, and the lads who get their wheels made to measure will chime in any moment now ;)

By the looks of that diagram my rims are neg offset as the flange in the rim is closer to the inside giving a wider offset than std :D:D:D

Perhaps a wider TRACK is what you mean?

OK then, that makes sense. Would 15x7's and 30x9.5's stick out from the guards too?

I've got a set (5) of sunnies with 31x10.5x15 Bridgestone 604's - Desert Duellers - that i'll be flogging when i get my disco rims back from having the offset changed..anyway, if you want to see what 15x8's look like on your buggy you're welcome to have a trial fit?? No pressure to buy them - i'm in no rush to sell them. Send me a PM if you're interested. Matt - in Wolloughby...

G'day Dauntless :)
If you send a PM to Rob Hay in Qld he might be able to help you as he has a full set of wide 15's S/Hand with tyres, on a vehicle that he has just bought, and is looking for some standard rims so you might be able to Wheel & Deal ;) Is that vehicle of yours a 70/71 6 cylinder Shorty???
cheers
