noticed this on Fleabay. Oil changer device.

The idea is good, but I'd worry about that tap opening whilst in the bush somewhere. The Ball valve looks like the common everyday bunnings variety. LR must have a common thread on the sump? The pic must be a genuine LR as look at all the oil leaking.:D Then again why does this guy have this device on it anyway, he would still get the HOT OIl RUNNING DOWN HIS SLEEVES from all the leaks:p

G'day All, Yes you certainly could make one yourself but why would U, IMHO it could spell disaster it it opened by driving over some type of debris, Nah I will keep my sump plugs insitu and he can have his invention PSB (poor silly bugger):p cheers Dennis:wasntme::angel:

I was reading an article about the RR V8. It noted that the sump plug was (a) RH thread and (b) ideally placed to drag when grounded and (c) to then come loose.
Apparently not uncommon.

Well it's cheaper than the Difflock.com option - http://www.difflock.com/cgi-bin/wm10/wm10_02606/st/ws20_9800/main/browse.cgi?final_pick=y&cust_cat=Drainplug@@@Land-Rover&cat_cat_max=&cust_id=50010128914&in_store=5001&cust_cat_index=5&pick_flag=y&setup_value=1&cleanup=n&item_id=DF45_1
But I doubt if its easy not to spill a little bit:o

Anybody taken the simple move of slipping a plastic bag around the oil filter when undoing it?
I tried it the other day and caught ALL the spills in the bag - came away without a drop of oil on my hands!!
You simply loosen the filter with your wrench then slip the bag on, ensuring that it is pulled up all around, then just undo by hand. Didn't even need the old ice cream container that I used to use.

Not a bad Idea I guess, But if I was going to do it I wouldent worry about the tube, just have a cap on the end of the valve so then I can just unscrew the cap & crack the tap a little rather than all the oil missing the container and then all over the floor
As I need to change our oil every few weeks in our Disco this might be the way to go........

What a great idea!
That has got to be cheapest, simplest, practical, innovative, functional, ....., thing I have never thought of.

This was the first one I saw, and couldn't actually work out what it was, and why it was so expensive.
And I was very curious what a Ölablassvorrichtung was:)

I like the fleabay, no more oil dripping from the filter comment. Obviously doesn't know you can't stop that.
Must be a town car that doesn't see the rough!!!

Ja ja Herr Flick here's the translation for you. German to English
Ölablassvorrichtung = Oil drain device.
I'm from German stock, even wearing my Lederhausen I couldn't work out what it meant. ?
Germans seem to have one word for a whole sentence:D
Google translater is my friend:p
